If you’ve been around here for the last couple of years, you know I’ve been trying to make some changes to have a healthier lifestyle, and one of those is in my eating habits! If you were to take a trip back to Kailee of 5-6 years ago, my favorite snacks consisted of pop tarts, chocolate milk, and ice cream on repeat. And while I will still probably never turn down a good bowl of ice cream, my snacking habits have changed! One of my very favorite snacks to grab are protein bites! I have tried about a million different varieties, and these are by far my favorite! They taste just like cookie dough, but are 100 times better for you!

I love that you can really mix and match such a variety of ingredients and come up with so many yummy protein bite flavors! So today I wanted to share a little tutorial on how I make our family’s favorite protein bites and give you some tips on the recipe below!

:: OUR FAVORITE PROTEIN BITES

adapted + customized from my sweet friend Kristin Andrus’s recipe

– INGREDIENTS –

1 cup rolled oats

1 cup steel cut oats

2/3 cup chocolate chips

1 scoop protein powder of your choice (I LOVE the Clean Simple Eats protein)

1 cup rice crispy cereal

3/4 cup raw honey

1 cup nut butter (I usually use natural peanut butter or almond butter)

1 cup ground flax seed

2 tsp vanilla

You can stop right here, OR you can throw in any other add ins  you love! Some ideas could be almonds, white chocolate chips, peanut butter chips, butterscotch chips, raisins, anything!

– INSTRUCTIONS –

In a large mixing bowl, mix all ingredients. (I usually do all the dry first, then add in the wet/sticky) Make sure it is mixed well so that you can form the balls easily and get all the ingredients in every bite. Chill the mixture in the fridge for an hour so that balls will bind together better. Roll the mixture into a 1 inch ball and store in the fridge or freezer for a yummy quick snack!

  2. Love these!! I messed up and got reg.flax seed instead of ground. I just added a little and they were still really good. They were Really sticky to roll so i was wondering if that was why?
