We are so excited to share our first service project of the season with you all!! This is something our family started doing a few years ago and the feeling that comes from giving service is something I never want my little people to forget + it always brings us back to the most important thing, and that’s helping and giving to others.

The kids put together baskets full of goodies, toys, games and more for one of the children’s hospital that Joe has worked at. They came up with the idea all on their own, which made it that much more meaningful for them. They put baskets together (for their own age group) of items that they loved or thought would be fun and entertaining in the hospital. It was really neat to see all the thought that went into each item. They would discuss it with each other and then ask Joe or I if we thought it would be a fun toy or activity to add to their baskets.

That night we came home and put together all the baskets and went to the children’s hospital the next day and dropped them off to the sick kids. Our people were so excited and afterwards kept saying how good they felt inside. It was such a great experience and they still talk about it today and the other ideas they have to serve others this month.

Each year our church puts out something beautiful for the world to enjoy and connect us closer to the true meaning of Christmas, and THIS year was nothing short of amazing!! #LightTheWorld is the best theme yet!! It’s all about severing others the entire month of December —  25 days, 25 ways to serve others. Isn’t that what Christmas is about?!?

Our family will be participating in more service ideas through out the month and wanted to share it with you all as well!! To find out more information click HERE + the video (I couldn’t get it to upload here) is one of the most touching videos about christmas I’ve seen in a long time. Be prepared to cry. I’ve seen it over a dozen times and I still get overcome with so much emotion and gratitude. I hope you all can get a little inspiration or that feeling to do something good for someone else. I can’t thank you all enough for your kindness + support for our family here in this space!!

  1. Do you have to have permission to drop off gifts? I want to do something similar with my kiddos. How do you decide which kids get the baskets? Thanks Kailee! Love reading your blog.

    1. We called and asked and were able to drop them off to the main lady in the rehab room. We were not able to go into each individual room for privacy reasons.

      xx

  2. Beautiful! Thank you for sharing! I love #lighttheworld project! I shared it with my activity days girls and they’re so excited for it.
