Favorite Finds: Hospital Bag

Kailee Wright-Hospital-bag

My sister had her baby last week + we’ve been talking all things baby as she prepared for the big day, and what to pack in her hospital bag came up a lot. I feel like I say this a lot, but having been through 5 deliveries + hospital stays, I consider myself pretty experienced. haha. I definitely have my go to’s, and have shared a few of them here + here. So today I thought I’d share the ultimate hospital bag + a little trick on how I got my babies to take a binkie!

kailee-wright-hospital-bag

…FOR YOU…

granny panties :  This may come across as TMI, but it is one of my biggest tips, especially for those of you first time mamas that haven’t experienced the joys of post delivery. After you have your baby, you are given the biggest pad you’ll ever see, and some mesh undies to wear. Yes I said mesh. I cannot stand them because they are so loose! I am paranoid everything is not going to stay where it belongs, if you get what I mean. Cue the granny panties. They are big enough to hold that big ol pad, but tight so it stays right where it belongs and you don’t have to stress!

spanx + belly band :  These two are the dream team and the first thing I put in my hospital bag! In addition to bringing that added tightness for the pad, they are magic. They help so much with any back or hip pain. I also think they are the magic ingredient to getting your hips back down after delivery. I wear the duo for as long as I can during the day, and really only take them off to sleep for the first little while.

robe :  If you’ve ever had to stay in a hospital before, you know it is just about always freezing! Those little gowns they give you to wear are basically a sheet and so breezy. I always make sure to bring something warm like my robe. In addition to it being so warm, it makes nursing super easy.

socks :  This goes along with the last one. I am such a cold footed person so comfy warm socks are a must for me. Plus the thought of walking around barefoot in the hospital just kinda grosses me out. And if you’ve been around here for awhile you know I basically live in these slippers.

dry shampoo + makeup :  Having a baby means lots of visitors! While I don’t go to the extent of showering at the hospital, I do like to feel put together. Cue my go to favorites, dry shampoo + 5 minute makeup! So quick and easy, but you’ll feel more presentable for all those pictures that seem to happen.

water bottle :  After having a baby you need to drink lots of water! It helps your milk to come in faster and keeps you from getting dehydrated after such a major change in your body.

…FOR BABY…

binkies :  I know this one is kind of a given. I’ve had a few friends say they could never get their babies to take a binkie, and asked if I did anything special. I have to share my mom hack! Bring some of these gas drops with you to the hospital. They are basically just sugar water. I put a tiny drop on the babies binkie, and they instantly want to suck on it, because it puts a taste in their mouth. Really I’ve done this will all my babies and it has worked like magic!! Totally a game changer!

swaddle blankets :  I’ve shared how much I love a good swaddle here before, and I like to get my babies used to being swaddled from the very beginning. Starting them early knowing that swaddle means time to sleep can be a big help down the road when you are ready to sleep train or not if you decide not to do that sort of thing. (this became a huge debate with my 4th baby)

hats/headband :  I love tiny little hats for my babies to make sure they are staying warm too. I of course have to bring a few headbands too if its a girl for pictures sake. These headbands are about the only thing harper will wear + they are super soft and will not leave a mark on your babies head.

white onesies :  In the beginning I love to use these as outfits for my babies. So tiny, clean, and simple. I also always put one of these onesies under all their outfits. It keeps them warm, and doubles as an extra barrier for those blow outs!

outfits :  I can’t resist bringing a few outfits for baby! Dressing them up for the first time is so sweet and I love having something special to take them home in. These have always been my favorite! The fabric is the softest thing ever + the it’s so stretchy to keep baby comfortable.

I hope some of these things were helpful for any of your expecting moms. I’d love if you’d share your must have items in your hospital bag too! And then I can add them to this list!! Love you all!!

Valentine’s Gift Ideas For Him

Kailee-Wright-mens-valentines-gifts

joe top + jeans  ||  similar dress here + here (on sale $44)

Valentines Day is just a few weeks away! If you’re anything like me it takes about that long to decide what to do for your hubby! So to help us alllll out this year, I rounded up the men in my life so I could ask them all what they would want. I’m talking Joe, my dad, brother in laws, heck even some of the workers that have been in and out of the house! I’ve rounded up all their suggestions and listed the best Valentines Gift Ideas for Him! The best part is the majority are under $50!

Since Valentines Day is all about celebrating the one you love most,so I tried and think of experiences for gifts too, instead of just things. With that in mind, I quizzed the men on this too and here’s what I came up with as my favorites!

valentines-day-gifts-for-men

zip pullover  |  tie or here  |   basic tee  |   portable charger  |   wallet   |  bluetooth speaker + here back massager  |   joggers  |  boardshorts + here |  cologne  |   long sleeve  |  golf balls

Date Night Away : I’ve talked about it here before, but date night is of course our favorite. With Joe working a lot, any one on one time we can get is cherished. Since Valentines is a special occasion, I think it would be fun to try and plan a date night away. Nothing too crazy, and still close to home, but enough to get some extra time together. With the invite you could include a gift card for dinner, movie tickets, and a gift card to Victoria Secret…because lets be honest, that’s probably the top of most of their lists.

Kailee-Wright-mens-valentines-gifts

joe t-shirt  |  jeans  |  shoes  ||  top  |  jeans  |  wedges (old) – similar  |  clutch – similar  |  bracelets  |  sunnies

Golf Day : Our guys work hard and if yours are like Joe, rarely get a day to themselves. I think another great “experience” gift would be a golf day. More than just say “you can go golfing”, take the time to schedule a tee time for them!  You could even stick the details with the golf balls I included in the roundup above.

Couples Massage : Who doesn’t love a gift that is secretly a gift to themselves too? So we all need to take the time to relax and pamper ourselves a little.

If you’ve got any good Valentines gift ideas for him to add to the list, send them my way! I’ll add them here so everyone  can see!! You all always have the BEST ideas – and I can’t wait to hear what else you come up with!!

How We Designed Our House Plans

Kailee-Wright-House Plans-3

top  |  joggers  |  slippers  |  necklace  |  blanket  |  white bedding + here  |  bench nightstand harper pjs headband

When Joe found out he got a job in Utah, we were so excited! Besides the joy of being closer to family, we would be able to finally build a home for our family! The more we looked at house plans, we realized nothing really fit what we were looking for. We had waited so long, we wanted it to be perfect. We decided we would design our own house plans!

When I mentioned on Instagram that we designed our house plans, I got a lot of questions asking what program we used and if I could share more details. The biggest shocker to most people is we didn’t use a computer…at all. haha! Through the years we paid attention to things we loved or needed, and made a wish list. Our biggest priorities were lockers, the pantry, and storage space. Being stuck in such a small space in California made us crave a more functional organized home. We found two plans that we liked pieces of, and decided we could combine them to create something that would fit our wants and needs.

Kailee-Wright-House Plans

Joe is kind of a nerd so he took care of all the details. We drew it out on a piece of graph paper, and he calculated what each of those little squares would equal in feet. Every time we made a change, we would retrace the plan on a new sheet of graph paper. I can’t even count how many “rough drafts” we went through. Our number one goal was to make sure every single corner was utilized and very thoughtfully designed.

Once we had the interior layout just how we wanted, we took it to our builder. He was able to take those plans and help us create the exterior look. We knew we wanted to stand out in the neighborhood + have a modern feel.

If I could give any tips for those of you building a new home, whether now or down the road, it would be to do you. You don’t always have to fit in to the norm if that’s not you. Make lists + save pictures of everything, whether its a want or a need. As they change, change your list. Your home is your space for you + your people to grow and love, so take the time to make it special.

Valentine’s Gift Ideas for Kids from baby to tween

Kailee-Wright-Nordstrom-Kids-clothes

hunter:  jacket  |  dress jeans hunter boots + socks  ||  hudson:  pants shoes  || harper:  dress headband moccs

When I was growing up, my mom made holidays so special for us. Valentine’s was no exception and one of my favorite days of the year! Every year we would make yummy treats + Valentine’s Cards so we could package them up for the neighbors. Instead of delivering them like a normal gift, we would doorbell ditch them with the little surprise. We LOVED it and thought it was the best thing ever as kids.

Now fast forward to when we moved to California. I loved the tradition so much I wanted to do it with my little family. We loved it so much but I always thought it was weird nobody ever did the same to us. Yes I was that naive! I had no idea doorbell ditching your friends and neighbors wasn’t the norm! I’ve continued to do it with my kids and they really look forward to it. It is such an easy way to spread a little love around the neighborhood.

valentines-gifts-for-baby

stripe sweater  |  baby doll heart pajamas  |  headband  |  moccasins   |  unicorn  |  heart print dress  |  red dress

In addition to doorbell ditching the neighbors, I “secretly” do the same to my kids with their little gifts. Since it’s still pretty close to Christmas, I like to keep their gifts practical. I usually think of a theme to make it fun. In the past I have done swimming suits + flip flops on a year we were heading on vacation a few weeks later. If they need new shoes, or pajamas, I’ll tie that in. Combining the fun + practical makes it a win for both of us!

Another thing we have been loving is “dating” our little people. I talked about it being one of their favorite birthday gifts a few months ago, and now they want to do it all the time! The one on one time is something we all crave and it has been so fun! They have loved planning their little dates.

I’ve put together a little round up of some fun + practical gift ideas for your little ones! I’d love to hear what fun traditions you do for Valentines Day!

Weekly Update

kailee-wright-weekly-update

dress heels + similar phone case + pop socket

So another week has flown by and we are thrilled its the weekend! Saturday is usually when I post the Instagram Roundup. I mentioned last week that since I’ve been sharing a weekly update on the family, in addition to the past weeks Instagram links, I decided it makes more sense to call it our Weekly Update! It will still include all the details you are used to, with an added update!

As you might know…my little sister had her baby!! They named him Brooks Hunter McCann. And I do have to say I feel like I named him. haha. Because Brooks had been one our names for years. So when we were done having babies Kenzie said they were going to use it and I couldn’t be more proud. And little “baby brook” (as Houston says) has got to be the cutest thing ever!! Also the little people keep asking if we will have another baby and joe and I keep telling them we are DONE!

The house is just about finished so it is really starting to feel like home. Its  been so nice to have a little break from having workers in and out of the house. Although we still need to install all of the barn doors throughout the house, and finish up the office, but I needed a break from it all to keep my sanity! I’ll be sharing detailed reveals of each space starting this next week! In the meantime I shared a bunch of the links you’ve all been asking for on Friday in my Favorite Finds post!

We start speech for Houston Monday. We have been working really hard on practicing letter sounds + the basics. I hope that this will be the extra help he needs so he can start progressing a little more. Harper is officially taking multiple steps in a row and I can’t handle it. The little people love cheering her on!

We are all so excited for Valentines Day! I impressed myself and am happy to say I already have Joe’s gift! He is in charge of our date night and I can’t wait for some one on one with him! If you are looking for some gift ideas for your man, I quizzed the men in my life and shared the best here earlier this week! Also I shared my favorite out of the box ideas for women HERE! Hope your all having a wonderful Saturday.

5 Out of the Box Valentine’s Gifts for Women

kailee-wright-valentines-gifts-for-women

sweater  |  jeans  |  slippers  ||  harper headband  |  top (similar)  |  bottoms  |  rug

Valentine’s Day is almost here and I can’t wait!! I love that this holiday is all about celebrating the people you love. Whether it’s a significant other, your little people, or your favorite girlfriends. It’s such a fun day!  As much as I love the typical gifts that tend to go along with this holiday, I thought it would be fun to round up something a little different. I’ve put together a list of the things I think most women would really want. Whether you need some inspiration for you favorite friends, or need to throw some hints your husbands way, I think you’ll love these 5 out of the box gift ideas!

  • Something for the Home…

I love getting something new for my home, especially during the lull of winter when you are stuck inside. My favorite thing to help brighten up the space is a new plant or cute pot to bring some life in. Adding that fresh aspect can change the feel of the space. New pillows are a fun way to easily change up a room too! If you’ve been here for a while, you know I have an obsession with these cute bowls too. They come in a million colors and you can never have too much ice cream right?!

  • Something Cozy + Relaxing…

With a lot of your time inside during the winter, I’m all about being cozy and relaxed. I’m guilty of not remembering to take some me time. Whether its a warm bubble bath, or snuggling up in my favorite robe and slippers, I don’t think there is a woman out there that wouldn’t want to just relax!

  • Something to Help Take Care of You…

As women I think we all love buying makeup for ourselves, but it’s not always the same when it comes to skincare. Our focus is usually on taking care of others, and we don’t remember to take care of us. I’ve mentioned before, but as I’m getting older I’m really trying to up my skincare game and these are some of my favorites!

  • Something to Boost Your Fitness Game…

With a New Year comes new goals, and for a lot of us trying to up our fitness game is part of that. Whether its getting to the gym or just getting out and being more active with your people. I’m always a little more motivated when a cute outfit or accessories are involved and these are some of my favorites!

  • Something to Grow Your Relationships…

My favorite gift for any occasion is time with my people. Whether its dinner + a movie with Joe or lunch and shopping with girlfriends, they are always my favorite gifts. Nothing beats the gift of time.

I hope these out of the box gift ideas can help spark the idea you’re looking for (or your significant other) haha! I’d love to hear your favorite gift ideas for the ones you love too! Also if your still looking for ideas for the men in your life I rounded up the  men in my life and asked them all what they would wanted HERE.

Personalized Gifts for Kids

Kailee-Wright-Shutterfly

Valentine’s is just around the corner and my little people can hardly wait! I love the excitement they bring into our home over every little holiday. When it comes to Valentine’s Day, it is all about celebrating the ones you love. I love to try and include personalized gifts, so when Shutterfly reached out about the great products they have, I was really excited to create some memorable things for my people!

If you’ve been around here for a little while, you’ll remember that a few months ago we lost our family dog. It was so hard on all of us, especially the kids. They still talk about her almost every day, and go visit her at our “Harley Tree” where she is buried. I wanted to create something special for them to remember her. I wish I could bottle up the look on their faces when they saw the gifts.

Shutterfly has so many perfect options, whether you want to go more sentimental, or put a fun spin on your gift. I wanted to share some of my favorites with you!

engraved jewelry  |  fleece blankets canvas tote bags  |  puzzles  |  memory games

  • Engraved Jewelry: I fell in love with these necklaces as soon as I saw them. I love how simple and delicate they are, making them perfect for every day where. I added our dogs name, Harley, and Hayden already told me she never wants to take it off. haha.

Kailee-Wright-ShutterflyKailee-Wright-ShutterflyKailee-Wright-Shutterfly

  • Canvas Tote Bags : I thought these were such a fun gift idea. The little people are getting to the ages where they fight over who gets what more often than not. I love that personalizing with their names really makes it their own and gives it that special touch. (plus it takes out the fighting) We plan on using them for their sleepover bags when we travel and they can’t wait. Plus how cute are all the fun color options?!

Kailee-Wright-ShutterflyKailee-Wright-ShutterflyKailee-Wright-ShutterflyKailee-Wright-Shutterfly

  • Fleece Blankets: This is my favorite of all the personalized gifts. The little people are obsessed and luckily it is big enough for them all to snuggle so they don’t even have to take turns. Besides being such a sweet memory of our Harley pup, the sherpa is soooo cozy and warm which has been perfect for this cold Utah winter. Hayden said, “this blanket is not leaving my body! Not even for school mom!” haha.

Kailee-Wright-ShutterflyKailee-Wright-Shutterfly

  • Memory Games + Puzzles: These are so fun and I love how they turned out! It makes a simple activity that much funner to see a familiar face. They were so easy to order + we love playing with them, I think I’m going to order more for their birthdays!

If you order from Shutterfly now through this Wednesday the 31st, you can save up to 50% off your gifts + get an extra 20% off at checkout with code XOXO! I hope this helps spark some ideas to make Valentine’s Day a little more personal + memorable for your little people. I’d love to hear your favorite way to celebrate such a special day! Love you all!!

One Item Worth Investing In For Your Wardrobe

Kailee Wright-Jen 7 Jeans_

sweater  |  jeans (sold out) – similar + here booties  |  clutch – similar sunnies bracelet cuff

When it comes to my wardrobe, I really like to focus on a few staple pieces. Things that can be worn multiple ways, and dressed up or down. Also, I try not to break the bank, but had to share my new found favorite, that is totally an item worth investing in for your wardrobe.

One of my favorite go to looks is 7 for all mandkind jeans and a tee, so finding good quality jeans is a must.  I had a few girlfriends tell me about these jeans, and I’ll be honest, I was hesitant. I don’t usually spend so much on a pair of jeans, but you guys, they are worth the investment!

Kailee Wright-Lifestyle Jan 2018-6

. .  shop more jeans  . .

First of all, the shape is amazing. They hold you in in all the right places. And I love that they don’t stretch. There is nothing worse than your jeans leaving you with a saggy bum at the end of the day. They hold their shape perfectly and I can wear them 4-5 times without washing them. That right there is a major selling point for me!  So today I’ve rounded up some of my favorites for you and I think you’ll agree, they are an item worth investing in!

Most Asked Home Questions

Kailee-Wright-home-Planters

Friday is here again and that means it’s time for another round of Friday Finds. As I’ve shared more glimpses into the house, I’ve been getting so many questions on the details! It means so much that you love how it’s coming together as much as we do! Most of the questions have been about the same items, so I thought this week I’d round up the answers to your 10 most asked home questions in once place!

Entry Way Planters : These planters were so hard to find! I had an exact idea in my mind of what I wanted for the space, yet had the hardest time finding it. My vision was for them to make a statement, but not be too bulky, since the places I have them are more like walkways. I love how these add a modern accent to both the entry and our Master Bedroom. For those of you who have asked, they are supposed to be outside pots. When they are outside they will naturally rust, like the color you see in our entry. I actually paid someone to come + rust those. The ones in my Master have not been rusted yet, hence the difference in color.

Kailee-Wright-home-Planters

Snake Grass : When we moved to Northern Utah, I had so many people tell me about how hard the winters are, and that it can be depressing, especially after living somewhere so sunny! Joe and I really took that into consideration when designing our plans. We tried to bring in as much light as possible. In addition to big windows, we wanted there to be plants throughout, but I knew it had to be something easy to keep alive! I already have to keep 5 little people alive! Haha! This Snake Grass is amazing. I swear it is nearly impossible to kill, with little effort on your part. I highly recommend it.

Trees : I have always loved these trees. We had one in our home in California for years. While they are fake, they have such a real look and really brighten up and bring life to any space. We love them so much we have 3 of them in the house! This tree is a cheaper option and still really great!

Kailee-Wright-home-PlantersKailee-Wright-home-Planters

Baskets : I love using a basket instead of your typical pot for my trees. They bring a great textured look to the space and just make things look more natural. My favorites I use are these and these. I love that they are available in sets so you can use the other sizes for holding blankets and pillows too!

Paint Color : I’ve been getting so many questions over on Instagram about our wall color. I wanted something that was bright, clean, and a great contrast with our dark hardware. We went with Benjamin Moore Chantilly Lace.

Pillows : It should be no secret that I LOVE pillows! I have so many pillows throughout the house! They are such a fun accessory to any design and a great way to tie things together. I’ve linked some of my favorites we have below.

pink nursery pillow  |  fluffy pillow (in every room..haha! love the navy gray +pink)

White Vases : I’ve had these vases for years. I love the bright white they bring to the space. They are simple and clean and look great in any space.

Kailee-Wright-home-Planters

Pink Planter Pots : It’s no secret I love the color pink. I love incorporating little pops of it throughout our home. These pots are such a light shade that they really go with everything.

Nursery Rug : This rug! How I ever questioned it when we first moved in blows my mind. I love the texture it brings to Harper’s room, while still keeping the look clean and simple.

Kailee-Wright-home-Planters

rug  |  side table (on sale)  |  pillow  |  rocking chair

Baby Chairs : We absolutely love these baby chairs, and I think they might be my number one asked about item the last month! They are easy to attach and super sturdy. I love that we don’t have to clean a whole huge chair + tray. The best part is the babies get to be right in the action with everyone else and they LOVE it!

Hopefully this update helps answer some of your most asked home questions! If you have more I missed, leave them here in the comments, or comment on my Instagram post and I’ll be sure to answer them for you soon!

5 Minute Makeup Tutorial

kailee-wright-Maskcara-makeup

top jeans slippers  ||  harper headband + dress (similar)  ||  hunter sweater + jeans  ||  hayden tunic (similar) + leggings

If you’ve been around here for a little while, you’ve heard me mention my 5 Minute Makeup Routine. It is probably my biggest tip in my “Busy Mom’s Guide to Getting Ready”, so I tell every girlfriend I know that it is a must have! Something that takes 5 minutes is such a game change for me, since I rarely have the time to actually sit down + do my makeup in the morning. Plus, I always seem to have a few little girls helping me or wanting in on it all! haha.

Kailee Wright_Maskcara Makeup

So, to give you a little background, Maskcara started back in 2015. Cara (the owner/creator of this fabulous product) is actually a good friend of mine, so she introduced me to the line way back when she first started. I will say I was hesitant in the beginning. I have never been someone that looooves makeup. I’ve never liked how it feels on my face, so as a result, I typically don’t blog about a lot makeup products. (I’m a pretty simple girl) She offered to give me a “makeover” (you can see here), using the line of products and I’ve been hooked to my 5 minute makeup ever since!

I’ve shared a few quick videos of me applying my makeup over on my Instagram Stories. In response to those clips, hundreds of you have asked me to do a tutorial here on the blog that you could come back to. I finally had the time, so I’m sharing the quick tutorial with you today!

I love the line so much, so I am actually an artist for Maskcara as well. I’d love to help any of you that are interested in trying it out! The best way to start is by sending over a makeup free picture (get those selfie skills out) to my Direct Message on Instagram so I can color match you. Ordering  is a breeze from there!

Let me know if you have any questions at all!  I also listed the colors I use below so you can refer back to them + the primer and lip gloss I used in the video here. As always thanks so much for being here!!

…My Maskcara Colors…

  • contour colors : stone + walnut
  • highlight color : aura
  • darker blush : (top right) nude (i use this on my eyelids)
  • blush colors : baby watermelon + petal

This past week flew right by and it is already time for another round of our new feature, Favorite Finds. If you missed last week, this is a new series where I’ll highlight the things I’m getting asked about the most, and my must have finds I’d share with any great girlfriend! With Harper turning one, (cue the tears, you can read her birth story here) I wanted to devote this week’s post to all my favorite finds for Baby’s First Year. Having 5 little people of my own, its safe to say I’ve tested my fair share of products. From must haves for the nursery, baby gear, and sleep helps, I’m sharing it all!

…NURSERY + SLEEP…

When it comes to a new baby, SLEEP is the one thing I think every mom dreams of. Getting my babies on a good sleep schedule has always been a top priority for me. I’ve shared my 5 tips for getting your baby on a sleep schedule as well as all my tried and true swaddling tricks in the past, but wanted to share some of my go to products that help accomplish that!

  • Dock a Tot: Ah this is such a life saver. I wish I would’ve had it for all 5 of my babies! I love this little pod because baby is safe and snuggly all the time. You can move it to any room in the house as you go about your day – which is what we do. We have also  loved it for traveling. Eventually when you go up to the bigger size it makes for easy transitioning to the crib.kailee-wright-dock-a-tot
  • Swaddle Sack: It is no secret how big of a fan I am of this swaddle sack. I love it so much I did a whole post about it here, because its just that good. How I wish I knew about it/it existed before Harper. Its perfect for babies that don’t love to stay swaddled in a blanket.love-to-dream-swaddle-up
  • Sound Machine: I like to use a sound machine to help drowned out noise BUT to also get my babies used to constantly hearing noise when they sleep. That way, my older people can live + play and I don’t have to worry about the baby waking up. We love this particular one so much we have multiple for both babies.
  • Rock N Play: I’ve had this since my 2nd baby. He was really colicky, had bad reflux, and would always spit up. Since my 1st loved to sleep in her car seat (or that’s where she slept best) we were thrilled when they came out with the rock n’ play sleeper!! All of my other four babies have slept in this wonderfully (for the first few months/along with in their cribs) but I love how portable it is so you are able to move into any room super easy!!Kailee Wright_Baby Products
  • Crib Sheets: I’m a firm believer that just like we like a cozy + comfortable place to sleep, so do our little ones. A good crib sheet plays such a big part in that. I wanted something soft and gentle on their skin, and my absolute favorites are these from Oilo. Not only are they such high quality, but all the patterns are so clean, simple, and modern. The owner, and my close friend Annalisa helped me design nurseries for both Harper + Houston, so she has a definite eye for design.
  • Swaddle Blankets: In my experience, one of the things that helped my babies sleep was to be swaddled nice and tight. If you don’t feel like your the best at it, I’ve shared my tips for making it easy and effective here. To get the perfect swaddle you can’t just use any blanket. It needs to be lightweight and breathable so your baby isn’t too hot. It also needs to have some stretch to it and be a good size. These swaddles are my favorite because they fit all the technical aspects, while having the cutest patterns at the same time! They are one of my favorite things to gift for baby showers too!how-to-swaddle-a-baby
  • Binkies: This one is completely based on your preference, or really your baby’s preference. Some could care less about binkies, and some could be like a few of mine and be totally obsessed! These are our favorites around here and the best part, inexpensive!

…GO TO GEAR…

Whether you are a mom of your very first baby, or 5 little ones, traveling and getting where you need to go with a baby is not always an easy task! Sometimes you just need your hands free around the house too and these are my go to for gear in Baby’s First Year.

  • High Chair: These high chairs are for sure in the top 5 asked about items in our new house. I’ve had 100’s of Direct Messages + Emails asking where they were from + my thoughts. I’ve had them for years and absolutely love them. They are so sturdy, I never have to worry about it keeping the grip on the counter top. I love that they are quick and easy to wipe down too! The best part for baby is it puts them right in the action with everyone else, which Harper LOVES.
  • Stroller: A good stroller is a MUST, especially once you have more than one babe. I wanted something easy to set up + take down on my own, easy to maneuver in tighter spaces, and of course clean + modern. My favorite thing is how customized you can make it. It can be adjusted to be a single, two tiny babies, a toddler and baby, or two toddlers all in one. You can pick all the details down to every color and accessory. It seriously covers all your bases and we love it!Kailee Wright_Museum of Natural Curiousity
  • Portable Crib: Since we were living out of state, away from family, a good travel crib was a must. Again something easy to set up + take down, and that is pretty compact for traveling was important to us. We loved this one because it is still really breathable. Living out of the rental for so long, this even became Harper’s bed for a good part of her first year of life!Kailee Wright_Nuna Breeze
  • Walker: Harper is the first baby we’ve had with this walker and she loves it! It keeps her right in the action so she can “run around” with the other little people, while helping her practice those walking skills. I love that it is so easy to clean + takes up hardly any space when its folded up  + put away.
  • Ergobaby Carrier: If you’ve ever had a clingy baby, you know a good carrier is a necessity. You can keep baby close and nuzzled in to you all while being hands free to help your other little people or just do your daily tasks. I love that the Ergo can be used around the house, at the park, hiking, anywhere! I also loved the Solly Baby Wrap when my babies were tiny for a more gentle hold.
  • MamaRoo: This is one I’m sure you’ve all heard about, but it definitely makes my list for those first few months. It is perfect for when you need to put baby down for a little bit. They still get the rocking motion to stay calm or sleeping. Both Houston + Harper loved napping in ours.Kailee Wright_Baby Products

…CLOTHES + ACCESSORIES…

These items may not be a necessity, but who doesn’t love to add cute outfits and accessories to an already adorable baby?!  I may like to shop for my little people even more than myself!

  • Moccs: It is no secret these are a favorite! The variety of colors + patterns is endless. I love that they are soft on your baby’s skin but still keep them warm and cozy. And bonus, they are so easy to get on their tiny feet!kailee-wright
  • Bows: My obsession for these bows should come as no surprise. They are my very favorite! Besides the obvious factor of how cute they are, I love the soft stretchy fabric so it doesn’t bother Harper.
  • Pajamas: These are so good that as soon as I found out about their adult line, I bought myself multiple pairs. The fabric is out of this world soft. They are super stretchy so your baby can move easily. Plus they are so cute you don’t even have to feel bad about not getting baby dressed for the day.  LOVE them!kailee-wright-baby-first-year
