13 Gift Ideas Your Girl Teens + Tweens Will Love

Kailee Wright Teen gifts

I don’t know how it happened so dang fast, but today this beautiful girl turns 13!! I honestly cannot even believe it. If you know Hunter, you love her. She is all things good in this world. Her personality is something I honestly wish I could be more like every day. She is the most thoughtful, genuine, true friend you could ever ask for, always puts others before herself, and is just so fun to be around. I am so grateful every day that I was blessed with her as my first born, because she is the best friend I could ever ask for!!

Since it is her big 13, with the holidays coming up, I thought it would be fun to have her put together a list of her top 13 gift ideas for tween/teen girls. Some of these she has and loves, and some are on her own wish list!

:: MAKEUP

If you’ve been around here for the last couple years, you know Hunter has been so interested in starting to wear makeup. She is such a natural beauty I constantly tell her she doesn’t need it! But she has started with the basics of mascara and lip gloss and loves it! She loves this mascara and thinks it would be a great gift for your teens. It comes off in little tubes so they aren’t worried about it smearing throughout the day, and still gives a natural look. You know this is my tried and true favorite lip gloss and I’ve passed the love on to her too! It is a great subtle pink and we love that it is not sticky at all!

:: SKINCARE

Going in to her teens, Hunter knows how important skincare is. I think as teenagers we all kind of live in fear of the dreaded acne right?! So we started her early with our go to favorite skincare line, Tula. They have an amazing acne line perfect for teens! If that isn’t your main concern, I HIGHLY recommend starting out with this power couple she is using. The purifying cleanser and the 24/7 hydrating cream.

The purifying cleanser is truly my go to. I love the gel texture! My face feels so clean and refreshed, but it doesn’t leave you with that tight dry desert face feeling after using it like a lot of other face washes. It is full of probiotics to help nourish your skin to give it such a nice glow. The 24/7 Hydrating Cream is incredible. Utah winters are rough. This has SAVED my skin and kept it soft and smooth. I love that it gives you such a moisturized soothed feeling without leaving that greasy shine some moisturizes give. Best part- you can use code KAILEE for 20% off!

At the top of Hunter’s wish list is also a PMD. She is really making sure she washes her face regularly and starts taking good care of her skin now. I love my PMD Clean so much and the benefits of smoother cleaner skin I’ve seen from it already. Plus you can use code KAILEE20 for 20% off.

:: LOOPY CASES

If you have a teen, you know of their love for phones! If your teen (or you) have a phone, you know it is an investment you want to protect. Insert the Loopy Phone Case. I’ve shared of my love for them a million times over, because they are honestly that great. They keep you from dropping your phone + give you that hands free bonus. I think it is the perfect idea for a tween/teen to show their style + protect their phone at the same time! You can use code KAILEE10 to save 10% on 1 or KAILEE15 to save 15% on 2 or more!

:: GRAPHIC TEES

Just like these are a staple in my wardrobe, they are quicklky becoming a favorite for Hunter as well. It is such a great option for teens to feel a little more grown up, show their style, and of course stay comfortable! As a mom, I love that they are modest + affordable! There are great options like this one, and this one all under $15, or some higher quality options we love this like one.

:: ROOM DECOR

I thought this was such a great idea Hunter had for the teen gift ideas. Room decor is such a great way for the to show their personality and just be themselves. You could do something bigger like a hanging chair, or stick to accessory pieces like these cute pillows we love.

:: JEWELRY

You can never go wrong with jewelry. As you probably already know by now, some of our favorite pieces are from Made By Mary. I love that everything they offer can be so personalized and customized to you and your season of life. As Hunter gets older I’ve been able to add to her collection with pieces that fit her personality. They even gave us an exclusive discount code for 15% off their site! Just use code KAILEEHOLIDAY15!

Another jewelry style Hunter is loving and is a great option for teens is the Pura Vida Bracelets. They can be stacked and mixed/matched to match their personalities. They are super affordable so they’d make a great stocking stuffer too!

:: JOURNALS + PENS

Journals are a great affordable gift for teens. If they are anything like Hunter, they love having a place to jot down their thoughts, doodle, or just keep a to do list. I love having cute notebooks around and fun colored pens. They would make a great gift for teens.

:: VANS

If you have a teen, or even know a teen, you know of their love and obsession with Vans! If you have tried them yourself you understand the buzz. They are such a fun style and so dang comfortable too!

:: HYDROFLASK

This is another item at the top of just about every teens wish list. We have loved and used hydroflasks for years! Not only are they so cute and come in fun colors, but more importantly they keep your drink icy cold. We love the straw bottle option, but this tumbler option with the straw lid is so fun too!

:: INSTAX MINI CAMERA

This is one item Hunter already has, but she loves it so much she had to include it for your teens. It is a great little mini portable camera. It is so fun for them to be able to kind of capture the world from there point of view and just have fun with it. She loves taking pictures with her friends or even of the babies around the house.

:: CONCERT TICKETS

There is just something about teens loving concerts right? I think it is a way for them to feel a little more grown up. Hunter is DYING to go to a concert so this is for sure on her list. The bonus is you can make it a fun night out with you to spend time together.

:: SOLO TRIP

This has been Hunter’s top gift for her last few birthdays and we have both loved it so much. We pick a location to go for just the weekend where all our attention is on her. It can be just her and I, or last year it was Joe too and we had so much fun. Honestly they just crave that time alone with you and this is such a fun way to do it!

:: SPA DAY

Last but not least is a spa day. Like the solo trip, it is such a great way to gift time together but on a smaller note. Go big and make it the whole day, or just stop in for a mani/pedi together. It will start the conversations you both love, and just get you out together.

Next up in our Gift Guide Mania this week is Kids! When we asked for your gift guide requests over on Instagram, hands down one of the most requested was “Non-Toy Gift Ideas for Kids”. It made me so happy that all of you are in the same boat as me where you feel like toys are taking over and you just don’t need more! So I really loved putting this post together of 5 ideas your kids (and you!) are sure to love this Christmas!

:: MONTHLY DATES

One of the trickier things to having 5 kids is a BUSY schedule. Sometimes it feels like we are constantly on the go. As parents, one of our top concerns + focuses was if each of our people is getting enough one on one time with us. Having that strong bond individually with each of them is so important to us, so we started what we call our Kid Dates. You can read all the details + tips to getting started on the actual dates in this post, but today I wanted to show you how we gift them to our kids! Check out my stories later today for all the details!

:: KIWI BOXES

You should all know by now how much I LOVE these boxes. We’ve been getting them for over a year now and love them every single month. My kids look forward to them and rip them open the second they get their hands on them! If you aren’t familiar with them , they are monthly subscription boxes curated by a mom (and tested by kids) that follow the STEAM method of learning. There are different boxes depending on age and all my different ages have so much fun with them.

One of my favorite things about them as a mom in addition to the learning, is that every single thing you need  comes in the box. So you aren’t looking for glue or something, they can just grab the box and create! And the best part! You can click here to get your first box free, you just pay shipping! I promise it is a gift both you and your kids will absolutely love!

:: PASSES

When I asked for non toy gift ideas from you guys, one of the top suggestions was passes. Something that is gifting an experience for your little people to go and do! Here are some of the great ideas you had for places to get passes to :

Amusement Park . Zoo . Children’s Museum . Aquarium . Movie Theater . Ski Resort . Trampoline Park .

. . .

:: PHOTO BOOKS

Another gift idea for kids we’ve done in the past that has been a huge hit is photo books. They love going back and looking at them throughout the year. One of my favorite ways to do them as a gift is to create a personalized book for each kid highlighting their year. I will just scroll through my photos or Instagram and pick out all of my favorites and put them in individual folders on my computer. Then you can use Shutterfly to order the cutest books and it is SO easy! I love that you can make them as detailed or as simple as you want, and change the backgrounds and colors to match each kids style.

. . .

:: CLASSES + LESSONS

Last but not least is one of my favorite ideas, classes. Similar to the passes idea, it is gifting them something to go out and do. What I love about this is they are getting to learn a new skill and try something new! It is even better when you can sign up together! You guys had a lot of suggestions under this category as well as us, so here are some of those ideas:

Cooking Class . Cake Decorating Class . Painting Class . Yoga or Fitness Class . Horseback Riding . Golf Lessons . Guitar Lessons . Pottery Class . Dance Lessons . Sports Camps

. . .

As you can see, there are so many great options to add to your kids Christmas gifts that don’t have to be toys! Gifting the gift of time and experiences with you is something you’ll both love!!

And in case you need some ideas for a couple of toys/things to throw in with these ideas, stay tuned for Monday’s post where we will be highlighting our top tried and true tested toys for every age group!

:: TRIED + TRUE FAVORITES

: Custom Jewelry – One of my favorite gifts to give and receive is Made by Mary jewelry. Every piece is so special and holds a memory with it. Not only do the pieces mean so much, but the quality is out of this world as well. You can do sentimental initials, birthstones, dates, anything. An idea I love (and did for my mom) was this necklace. I did a dot for each of the grand kids. It is super simple but has that meaning behind and she loved it. The best news is there holiday sale is going on RIGHT NOW, so you can snag pieces for the best price you’ll get all year.

: Skincare – You cannot go wrong with your favorite tried and true skincare. For me that is hands down Tula. Tula is so great for every skin type! They offer everything from moisturizer to eye cream to face wash. I just gifted this set of all my favorites to my mom. It is such a great deal and comes with the cutest travel case. If you want something a little smaller, I’d go with their 24/7 hydrating cream. It is what dreams are made of and I gift it to every mom sister and girlfriend out there because it is incredible. You can use code KAILEE to get 20% off your order too!

: Slippers – You guys, winter is COLD here! I cannot live without my comfy slippers. They make such a great gift because they last for years! These are my favorite brand and feel like you are walking on a cloud. I never want to take them off! They have great options for men too!

: Ring Doorbell – If you don’t already have one of these doorbells, get one for yourself while you are grabbing your gift! Nothing like the gift of peace of mind when you are away from home. We love being able to check for packages, and see/talk to people at the door if we are away. It is a great beginning to security for your home, and something in-laws + parents would love!

: Wifi Picture FrameThis is the ULTIMATE gift for parents + in-laws. We all know how much they love to see pictures of their family, and are always asking us to print/send more. Well this solves everything. Not only is it a picture frame, but it works as a digital slideshow of any picture you load on to it. And the best part, you can upload the pictures via wifi, so as soon as you get new images you can send them to the frame. That way they are always getting new fun images to see and the most current as well.

: Journaling Scriptures – I love these so much, and they would make such a great gift for in-laws + parents! They take your normal scriptures and turn them into a larger print, journal format. There are margins on the side for you to take notes and really customize and jot down your thoughts. They have the cutest color options too so you could get one for each parent!

: Packing Cubes – If you know me, you know I consider myself a bit of a professional packer. Haha. Maybe not that extreme, but I can pack the whole family in one bag so I’d say I’m doing pretty good. And a lot of that credit goes to packing cubes! They are a game changer and such a great gift for travelers. A fun idea would be to gift them along with tickets for a trip together or a card with a hotel reservation! And they are offering you guys an exclusive discount for 15% off using code KAILEE15.

:: SERVICES

: Car Detail – Is there anyone that doesn’t love a clean car?! Scheduling a car detail is basically the perfect gift for anyone on your list, especially those harder to buy for. We love using Fresh Detail because not only do they do an incredible job (check out their before and afters), they come right to your house!! So you aren’t sitting around in a shop somewhere thinking of all the things you could be doing while you wait.

: House or Window Cleaning – As women, I think the last thing we ever want to ask for is help, especially when it comes to “airing our dirty laundry” that our house isn’t quite as clean as we might make it out to be. One of my very favorite gifts I’ve ever been given is 2 hours of a cleaning service at my house. Not only does it give you the clean house which feels amazing, but it frees up time for you to tackle the rest of your list or spend time with family. It is another great gift idea because everyone can use it!

: Meal Delivery or Freezer Meals – I love this idea one of you sent in for in-laws + parents! Cooking for two can be hard and kind of a pain, especially when you have other things you’d rather be doing with your time. Meal Delivery or Freezer Meals are such a great idea to give them a break from that monotonous chore and to try some yummy new recipes. I love that it can be more of a long term gift too by doing it for multiple months.

: Dollar Shave Club – Don’t worry we didn’t leave the dads + father in laws out! A monthly subscription box is such a great idea for them and literally the gift that keeps on giving! One of our favorites that every guy can use is the Dollar Shave Club. They started out as just a service that sent you razors and shaving needs in subscription form, but now they offer so much more and you can totally customize it. From shaving gear to shower products, even hair styling items are offered so you can really personalize it for your recipient.

:Stance Sock Box – Another subscription style box present we love is Stance Socks Box. Who doesn’t love fun socks? They are so comfortable and range from sports logos to dress socks and everything in between!

: 23 + Me Genetic Testing – I think out of all the “services” we came up with, this was my favorite for in-laws + parents. 23 + Me is such a fun way to dive a little deeper in your family history and learn more about where you came from. It kind of ends up being a gift the whole family loves!

:: EXPERIENCES

One pointer before we dive into these gift ideas. The one thing in-laws + parents want most is time with their family. So, when gifting an experience, one thing I try to do is make it more long term. Instead of just one golf day, plan out multiple throughout the year. They will love the time with you the most, no matter what the activity is.

: Spa Day With Mom – Raise your hand if you could totally use a spa day right about now?! Chances are your mom feels the same way, plus how much more fun is it to go together and make a day of it. I love gifting relaxation and pampering (something she would never do for herself) and getting the whole to just chat and catch up together.

: Golf Day With Dad – Just like the spa day, it is such a great way to gift your time together! So fun to just take it easy and enjoy each others company!

: Sign Up For Class Together– One thing everyone loves to do is learn new skills. While your mom or dad may already be an expert chef or professional artist, there is always something new to try. I recently did a cake decorating class with my kids and we LOVED it!! It is so fun to learn something new together! Some ideas would be a cooking, cake decorating, cookie decorating, painting, pottery, sewing, anything! Remember it is mostly about spending time together!

: Girls Night – In-laws + parents tend to already have everything, so just spoiling them with a night out can be a great gift! I love booking a hotel for a night with my mom. We can go out to eat and shopping if we are up for it. Or our personal favorite, order room service in bed, just talk and watch a chick flick. Another simple idea that focuses on the time!

: Tickets – Whether you make it a gift with you or for them as a couple, event tickets are a great gift for someone that is trickier to buy for. Here in Utah we have the option of Eccles Theater, Hale Theater, Tuachan, or even concert tickets to a band they love! Another great option that is geared more towards the dads would be tickets to see his favorite team. Maybe you get a little fancier and do box seats. Adults tend to focus most on their kids and don’t treat themselves, so try to spoil them!

: Family Trip – Last on the list is a family trip with the whole family that you’ve all already worked out with your schedules! They love nothing more than being with all of you together so it makes the perfect gift!

. . .

:: THOUGHTFUL/MEMORY FOCUSED IDEAS

: Gallery Wall – If there is one thing in-laws + parents love most, it is pictures of their family! I love gifting family pictures or pictures of the grand kids to my parents. But this last year we stepped it up a notch and gifted them a gallery wall. We got all the frames, pictures printed, and offered our time to actually hang the collage for them and the loved it! Our favorite frames that work great for gallery walls are these acrylic ones from Highland Hardware. We love them because they are clean + simple so the focus is more on the picture, not the frame, and they go with any decor.

: Video – Another really fun gift idea is to make them a family video. It could be of a trip you took together or a highlight of the previous year. Another idea my assistant did for Fathers Day that would work great for Christmas was to interview all the grand kids asking “what do you love most about papa?” The answers were so sweet and something he cherishes now.

: Photo Calendar – On the same idea as photos, another fun gift for in-laws + parents is a family calendar. Each month can be filled with images from the previous year of the family. Think Halloween pictures, Christmas jammies, beach vacations. It is so fun to look back on throughout the year as you change months. Shutterfly has a great user friendly platform to make them on, and they constantly have great deals this time of year.

. . .

I hope this helped fill out your shopping list for your in-laws + parents! And if you have a gift you’ve given or received that you think would be a good fit, PLEASE leave it in the comments on Instagram and we will add it here!

Answering All Your Botox Questions with Dr. Jerry Chidester

kailee wright botox

my top  |  leggings  |  gray towel

For the past couple of years I have been putting a lot more focus on upping my skincare game. We are finally in a place where I feel like I can invest more in regular treatments and good skincare products. As I get older, I really want my skin to be a top priority. One of the treatments I mentioned getting a little while ago was Botox. And after posting about it on Instagram, I learned it is a hot topic! A lot of you were very for it and love getting it. But so many of you were skeptical and full of questions.

So to help clear the air on a few myths, as well as answer some questions on the actual benefits of Botox, I sat down with our close friend Jerry to answer all your questions! Jerry is an amazing Plastic Surgeon and Hand Surgeon here in the Salt Lake area + also works at Form Med Spa and is so educated on what he does. I honestly don’t think I would have ventured in to trying Botox if it weren’t for his knowledge and professionalism, and I know his answers will help you out so much in knowing if it is right for you! So let’s get started!

kailee wright botox

:: I know most people get Botox for  “preventative” reasons in regards to aging or their looks. What are the actual medical benefits?

Botulinum toxin was originally used for the specific purpose of medically treating “bleoharospasm,” a medical condition that causes one to blink uncontrollably. Ophthalmologists used botulinum neurotoxin to help decrease the spasms, and in the process, noticed less wrinkles around the eyes!

The medical use has expanded over the years. The FDA has approved various botulinum toxins to treat conditions like cervical dystonia, severe primary axillary hyperhidrosis (significant sweating in the arm pits), striabismus, as well as significant glabellar rhytids (wrinkles).

:: Does it really help with migraines?

Botox (onabotulinumtoxinA) is FDA approved for treatment of chronic migraines, so yes! It can help with certain types. The best way to find out if it would help one’s migraines would be to talk to your plastic surgeon!

:: What is the typical price for Botox? Is it always priced per unit.

Most plastic surgeons and medical spas will charge by the unit, because it is sold by the manufacturers by the unit. Dosing is also based on units, so it is the most straightforward way to calculate cost. Usually it can run $12 – $16/unit locally. Always know who is injecting you and what product they are using! There are unapproved neurotoxins being shipped here from out of the country that are not regulated and the dosing/effect is unknown. So be careful! If the price per unit is extremely low (let’s say, $6/unit) be very careful! You get what you pay for.

::What are the long term effects?

There are no long term effects, other than it may help prevent deeper wrinkle formation over time.

:: Does it make your skin or muscles worse in the long run if you stop doing it?

I’ve never heard of anyone complaining that neurotoxin made their skin or muscles worse. We specifically target certain muscles of facial expression that are temporarily paralyzed, but these come back over time. It is a dose dependent medication, meaning the more you inject at once has more of an effect on those muscles.

:: Once it “fades” are you more susceptible to wrinkles?

The effects of botulinum toxin injections are temporary, so there is no permanence to their effects. That is good and bad! Good, because if it doesn’t provide exactly what you were expecting (which is rare!), it will “fade” over 3-4 months. Bad, because if you really like the effects then it will also “fade,” and you will need repeat injections! Actually, people that get it frequently are less susceptible to wrinkles over time.

kailee wright botox

:: Is sensitive skin a risk factor with Botox?

People have varying skin types and tones. Regardless, botulinum toxin doesn’t typically affect skin.

:: What is the typical maintenance?

After the first injection, most people start to see the botulinum toxin “fade” around 3 months and muscle movement (and wrinkles) start to return. This is the best time to have a repeat injection or “maintenance treatment.”

:: How often does the average person have to get injections to maintain the same look?

Typically every 3-4 months initially, but if done frequently and timely it can be stretched out to six months to have the same effect.

:: I’ve heard it causes a lot of bruising. Is that a normal/expected reaction?

It is pretty uncommon to have bruising (at least from what I’ve seen) and is not an extremely common side effect, although, it can happen. Best is to gently ice and is usually covered up easily by a little makeup.

:: How painful is it?

Very minimal pain. There are also vibrating devices (e.g. NuVibe) that help distract while the injections are made. When I inject, it typically takes less than 45 seconds. The needles used are very small (29 or 30 gauge).

. . .

Hopefully that helps answer some of your questions in regards to Botox and knowing if it is something that is right for you! If you have any other questions, please leave them here or over on Instagram and I will have Jerry answer them as well and add them to the post for everyone! You can follow along to learn more about Botox + Plastic Surgery from Jerry (and really because he is so dang funny too) over at @jerrychidestermd on Instagram.

Is it just me or are the months just flying by?! I swear we were just doing our summer recap and here it is almost November. So crazy!! Fall has been so fun this year!! Utah is being nice to us and the weather has been practically perfect for comfy layers + still enjoying outdoor activities! We’ve had some fun trips, family nights, and birthdays so I thought I’d do a little fall recap as well as link a bunch of the things you’ve all been requesting!

Kailee Wright Lululemon Workout

sports bra  |  leggings  |  jacket  |  shoes

Like every other season, Fall has kept us super busy running from place to place for all the different sports games and practices! You can usually find me living in my workout clothes in survival mode! Haha! I am for sure loving all the great workout layer styles you can wear in the Fall that keep you looking put together, but are so dang comfy at the same time. You can check out my faves here. It has been so fun to watch my people grown and see all of their hard work pay off in their games. Just don’t watch me too close, I’ve totally turned into the crazy intense sports mom!

Fall has also brought along the chance for our cute Houston to go to preschool. He loves being so grown up and doing everything himself so this has been perfect for him. As much as we miss our little partner in crime, one on one dates with this girl have been my favorite. She is full of so much personality and constantly has us all laughing!

Fall also seems to be family picture season for us! Joe had a weekend off that finally worked with schedules so I rush ordered all the things we needed for outfits and we headed out with our favorite photographer Aubs. I love the images she got for us this year! We also took a hilarious behind the scenes of family pics video! You can check it out as well as our tips to surviving family pics here.

One of the biggest highlights of our Fall was our sweet Hayden turning 8 and making the choice to be baptized. She is such a determined little firecracker + I am loving watching her personality as she grows up. It was so much fun to have all of our family in town to celebrate her all weekend!

Kailee Wright Chip Cookies

A fun unexpected surprise was getting to collaborate with our favorite cookie company CHIP to create a cookie of the month. If you know me you know I’m obsessed with Semi Sweet Chocolate Chip Cookies, so a Salted Semi was a no brainer. We ate way more than one family should eat in a month, but it was so dang yummy and so fun for our family to do together.

I was also able to sneak away to San Francisco for a weekend away with some of my residency sisters. It was SO MUCH FUN. I haven’t laughed that hard in a long time and it was just what I needed. We stayed up late talking + goofing off, ate alllll the yummy food, and toured the city. I swear us mamas need to do that for ourselves once a month to recharge!! You can check out our favorites + all your amazing recommendations in our San Francisco travel guide.

Finding Time to Fit In Your Workout

Kailee Wright workouts lululemon

my sports bra  |  leggings  |  shoes  ||  harper’s similar romper  |  socks + boots

One of the biggest hurdles to getting into a healthy fitness routine, is finding the time! If your schedule is anything like mine, you are running from school to practices to appointments, and extra time is not so common. But when I started really focusing on my health and getting a regular routine, I knew I had to find the time to make it happen. So today I wanted to share kind of my tips + ways of thinking that have helped me make it a priority in my life.

Kailee Wright workouts lululemon

:: FIRST THINGS FIRST

One of the biggest things that has worked for me in making time for my workout is doing it first thing in the morning, bright and early. I never thought I could be one to wake up just for that, but it has been what works for us, so I make it happen. Waking up before my kids takes away a lot of the mom guilt I was having. It also starts my day in such a great way. I feel like I have a more positive mind set + energy for the day.

Kailee Wright workouts lululemon

:: MAKE YOURSELF A PRIORITY

This one is probably the hardest one. As mom’s + even just as women in general, we tend to put ourselves last on the list. We will skip our workout or other plans to fit something else in for our people, even if it isn’t necessarily as important at the exact moment. You’ve gotta make yourself a priority. For some that means staying up extra late or working up early so your kids are sleeping. Maybe it means you hire a babysitter for an hour or trade with a friend so you can have that time for you. Whatever it is, push the mom guilt aside and make yourself a priority!

Kailee Wright workouts lululemon

:: HAVE A WORKOUT PLAN OR IDEA

As we know, time is the biggest/hardest factor here. So we don’t want to waste any of it. Having a workout plan or idea in mind BEFORE your set aside time to workout is such a game changer. Not only is it keeping you from wasting time, it also motivates you knowing what you have coming up. I love saving a youtube or instagram video ahead of time. Some of my very favorite go to’s are Kristin Andrus + Kelsy Wells, both on Instagram. They have amazing ideas that you can totally do in your home without equipment, and range anywhere from 10 minutes to 45.

:: INCLUDE YOUR KIDS

Another thing I think we are all guilty of is using our kids as an excuse. I can’t workout because my kids are home. Biggest tip, INCLUDE THEM! It may be as simple as putting them in the stroller and taking a walk or jog to the park for your workout. I have friends that will still do weight training and use their baby or toddler as the weight. They love spending time with you and this is not only giving them that attention, but showing them that your health is important to you + teaching them healthy habits.

Kailee Wright workouts lululemon

I know the mom guilt can be overwhelming, and it is easy to come up with all the excuses not to. But I promise, once I forced myself to take that time for me too, knowing that it made life better for all of us, it is so beyond worth it.

Favorite Workout Layers From Lululemon

Fall is officially in the air and with it comes some cooler temps! I mentioned before that I am switching up my workouts a little bit with the change in our schedule + season. The change in temperature brings a change in my favorite go to workout wear as well! It should come as no surprise to you that I am beyond in love with all things lululemon, and their layering pieces are my very favorite. There are so  many pieces that are perfect for gym to every day wear, that I wanted to share my favorite go to pieces with you!

:: LEGGINGS

Anyone else totally okay with the idea of living in leggings? Give me a pair of lululemon leggings and a comfy sweatshirt and that is my idea of heaven!! With lululemon having such a great selection for a variety of needs, I’ve been getting a lot of questions of which are my favorites.

First up by far is the Wunder Under. They were the first pair I ever purchased thanks to a recommendation from the sales girl, and they are my favorite to this day. If you are looking for the perfect amount of compression on your stomach where you feel sucked in, but want that comfy pajama feel, these are far you. Plus they come in so many fun colors and patterns!

The Align Pant is another crowd favorite and a lot of my girlfriends go to legging from lululemon. They are quite possibly the most buttery soft thing I’ve ever worn, and are great for all day wear running errands or around the house. They are known for their “naked” sensation, and I will agree they are THAT COMFORTABLE. Like the others, they come in a bunch of great colors and patterns!

The other style that rounds up my top 3 is the All The Right Places Pant. Imagine a pair of pants that has stitching in literally all the right places to slim and tuck exactly where you need it, all while accentuating the areas you love….that my friends is this pant. In my opinion they are the highest quality nicer looking option and are SO great to workout in or dress up for errands or even a night out. I have paired mine with a big chunky sweater for traveling and love the look. You can snag these in all the great classic colors.

:: LONG SLEEVE TOPS

When it comes to lululemon tops for layering, to me there is a stand out winner. This Swiftly Tech Crew takes the cake. I first fell in love with this style in the tank top option, but when I found out it was also a tee or long sleeve, I had to try them. Like everything I’ve tried from lululemon, the quality is amazing. I love that the fabric is this great breathable feel, but still keeps you warm. It is perfect for hitting your workout outside in the fall, or for layering over a sports bra to start out inside. I wear mine on the go running errands or out with girlfriends all the time as well, because it is both comfortable and flattering.

:: JACKETS + SWEATSHIRTS

Last but not least, and quickly making its way to top of my favorites from lululemon is the jackets. Normally, I despise most jackets + coats, especially if they are made to actually keep you warm, because they are SO big and bulky. You basically have to choose between looking like you have a feminine body, or being warm, and I’m not a fan. Insert the lululemon jackets. They are so light and fitted to your body, but still manage to keep you so warm! I am obsessed! There are two styles I have and love!

The first one I got last year is this Non-Stop Bomber style. It is SOO comfortable. I love that the neck line isn’t too high and it doesn’t have a bulky hood. The cut of it is also super slimming, and I love the reversible option too!

Just a couple of weeks ago I got the Another Mile Jacket, and have worn it every day since. It is the ultimate every day jacket. The cut is super slimming and the addition of the tech fleece on the inside keeps it super comfortable. I love the double zipper feature + removable hood option so you can choose from a variety of ways to wear it. It is nice and fitted so I would recommend sizing up if you want to layer it over normal every day clothes. I got my true size and it is great for layering over a tank or sports bra, but would want to go up a size to layer over long sleeve/thicker options.

. . . SHOP MY FAVORITE JACKETS + SWEATSHIRTS . . .

. . .

As you can see, I wasn’t kidding about lululemon being one of my very favorite brands. You cannot beat the quality and fit, whether you are looking for a sports bra and bikers or leggings and a jacket! They are the perfect addition to your holiday wish list for you + your best girlfriends. Hope you find something you love!

Boys Hair: How To + My Favorite Products

Kailee Wright Boys Hair

my tee + here  |  similar jeans  ||  houston’s similar hoodie  jeans

I’m so excited to jump back in to talking all things hair again today! But this time we are leaving the braids and messy buns behind, and putting a little different spin on it. We are talking all things BOY HAIR. I’ve had soooo many questions from how I cut + style the boys hair, to what my go to products are, so we’ve put it all together here in one post for you to reference back to!

spiker gel color gel + color spray big sexy blue gel

:: BOYS CUT

First up, let’s talk cut. This shouldn’t come as a big surprise to many of you, but I am a classic girl through and through. I’ve never been one to lean into super trendy styles, and that includes hair cuts. I’m pretty sure if I took a survey of how many of us look back and wonder what in the world we were thinking with a certain hair style we tried to rock, I’d have a room full of hands. So I do my best to stick with a simple classic cut for my boys. I  like to keep it nice and short because it makes it quicker to style when we are in a rush, and it saves on the amount of product we have to use. Double win.kailee wright behind the scenes family pictures

houston’s top + similar jacket + pants + shoes

:: STYLE

The style is pretty simple + classic too. We get it all tamed and under control, and then just kind of use the tips of my fingers to pull up the front center to create slightest spike/hint of a faux hawk, if that makes sense. It gives them a clean look that shows they actually did fix their hair, but nothing dramatic or wild that is hard to keep looking good all day, or takes a lot of maintenance. Getting their hair done is pretty much the last thing my boys want to be doing, so quick and easy is our jam.kailee wright behind the scenes family pictures

:: PRODUCTS

My go to hands down number one FAVORITE hair gel for the boys is this one. I have used it for years and years since Hudson had enough hair to style and it is amazing. We honestly don’t use or buy any other gel because this one is just that good. It is so dang strong that it basically holds the style in place like glue, and the best part is you use the TINIEST bit. So the one container will last you forever. Besides that holy grail gel, the only product I use on their hair is the color spray. Houston LOVES it and it has become an almost daily request. It has been a great easy way to convince him to sit still and let me do his hair, and he thinks it is so fun.

Our Home: The Pool + Gym

The pool and gym are finally done and we lived through the craziness of it all!! Ha! It had it’s challenges FOR SURE!  But we are so so happy with it .And now it has instantly become everyone’s favorite place! We had so many questions about the process that I wanted to share a quick update as well as a few pictures of the final product!

kailee wright pool

Once we got all moved and had a second to breathe, we started to get bigger ideas for the backyard. We’ve always wanted our home to be a place the little people loved to be with their friends as well as somewhere we could host family. We knew we wanted the backyard to be an extension of that same feeling. After debating for a couple years on whether we should buy a boat or put in a pool, Joe won out and we went with the pool!

While I couldn’t love it more now, I feel like I barely survived the process itself. Just in time for nice warm weather, the pool company came in a basically ripped apart my entire yard. Such a nightmare with a house full of kids + a puppy that just wanted to play outside. I’ve had a lot of you ask for the company we worked with. And honestly after having so many issues with them I’m not going to recommend them. To add to that fun drama, If you live here in Utah, you probably remember that 2 weeks where we had rain every single day. Which meant a nice long delay for any progress happening on the house.

Another question we’ve had a lot is if we did a hot tub too. We didn’t do a hot tub, just because we didn’t want the added cost + we wanted to leave some space in our yard for the kids to be able to play soccer and other activities on the grass.

Kailee Wright Swimming pool

harper’s swimsuit  ||  my swimsuit + similar sunglasses

We also added on a pool house/home gym and are LOVING it!! It has been so nice to have the option to workout at home on days I can’t make it out. Can’t wait to be able to utilize it all winter!

kailee wright gym

FINALLY, just as we were wrapping up summer, we finished!! And it has been 1000% worth it. Now I can have the kids swimming lessons in our own backyard. The bigger kids invite their friends over and want to be here more often, but I don’t have the stress of them making messes in the house. And I think best of all we have made so many fun memories as a family. We still get to be doing something together when Joe is home from work, but we don’t have to pack up allll the things and get in the car and go. We have another way to enjoy each other from the comfort of our own home.

So while it was crazy and not necessarily my favorite summer, we can’t wait for the fun memories to come!

3 Must Have Fall Transition Staples

Kailee Wright Fall Transition Pieces

similar top + here (sold out)  |  cardigan  |  jeans  |  booties  |  similar sunglasses

The weather here in Utah is starting to change, and there is definitely more of a chill in the air. I am a HUGE summer girl so I’m not really sure how I feel about it! Growing up in St. George I love the heat, so I’m always a little bummed when summer comes to an end. But Fall in Northern Utah is absolutely gorgeous + lets be honest, you can’t beat Fall Fashion!! So today I’m sharing a few of my favorite fall staples that make transitioning your wardrobe a breeze.

:: CARDIGANS

When it comes to fall staples, I think cardigans might just have my number one vote! Fall style is all about layering and they make the perfect addition to any look. You can take a summer tee and jeans, and transition it straight into fall by throwing on a cardigan. On top of being an easy fix to the season change, they are so comfortable and the perfect addition to your momiform. I love that they pair well with a tee and jeans, or over the top of a dress with booties, you really can’t go wrong! When the Utah winters start to kick in , I love to pair a chunkier cardigan with a beanie for a cozy go to look as well.

:: BOOTIES

I love booties because they are so versatile. They look great paired with a dress, but can be the perfect addition to a sweater+ jeans too! I always love to find a few staple pairs like these that go with just about everything, as well as some fun new styles to try like these. This years Nordstrom Anniversary Sale had so many I loved that I kind of can’t wait for the (slightly) cooler temps to be able to wear them. And if you know me that is saying a lot!!

Last but certainly not least on my must have fall transition pieces is a good jacket. I got this jacket at the Nordstrom Sale and it is one of my most worn pieces ever. I love that I can pair it with literally everything. It can be thrown over a tee and joggers or jeans for a grocery run, but dressed up for date night just as easy. It is so versatile and timeless and exactly the kind of staple piece you want to have to carry you through the seasons. Leather jackets are another must have for me because they work with so many different looks!

Fall is in the air here in Utah!! The leaves on the mountains are changing and gorgeous, and the temperatures have definitely decided to drop this week! Let’s just hope the snow doesn’t make an appearance anytime soon. One of my favorite things about Fall is all the fun family traditions + events, so today I thought it would be fun to share our Fall Bucket List with some of our favorites from years past as well as some of your recommendations we are excited to try!

. . . OUR FALL FAMILY BUCKET LIST . . .

Kailee Wright Nordstrom kids pumpkin patch

:: PICKING OUT PUMPKINS AT OUR LOCAL PUMPKIN PATCH

This is by far one of our fall favorites. We usually end up going to the pumpkin patch 2-3 times before the season is over because it is so fun for the kids. If you remember last year, Harper was terrified of pumpkins (so funny + sad), so hopefully she has warmed up to them this year! I love that it is a great way to support your local community + neighbors too.

:: “BOO-ING” OUR FRIENDS + NEIGHBORS

I shared about this last year and it is SO SO fun! You can make cookies or just put together a bag of treats from the store. Once you get your treat together, you doorbell ditch them leaving the treat behind with a little note that says “You’ve been boo’d”! My kids absolutely love doing it and it is a great little “secret service”.

:: CARVING OR PAINTING PUMPKINS

This is another one that is always at the top of the family list. We usually invite my sisters and their little families over and make a night out of it. With all the babies, we usually opt for painting pumpkins over carving, but either way is such a fun way to get creative or competitive with your family.

:: TAKING A DRIVE TO SEE THE FALL LEAVES

The mountains here in Northern Utah in the Fall are my absolute favorite. With all the leaves changing they are gorgeous! I love bundling up in the van and taking a drive through the canyon to see them.

:: DECORATE HALLOWEEN SUGAR COOKIES

It isn’t a holiday without sugar cookie decorating, am I right?! My little people love decorating (and eating) sugar cookies, and it is an easy delicious way to make things fun for any holiday.

. . . MY FALL BUCKET LIST . . .

Kailee Wright Nordstrom kids pumpkin patch

Right along with our family bucket list, I decided to make a personal bucket list (that kind of turns into a little bit of a to-do list). Things I want to get done around the house, accomplish here on the blog, and of course a few fun ones!

:: DECORATE OUR PORCH FOR FALL

I LOVE decorating our front porch for the different seasons, especially fall! Fun corn stalks, pumpkins, hay, I love it!! Stick around because I’ll be sharing some of my favorite fall decor next week!

:: TAKE A GIRLS TRIP

I love a good girls trip!! This coming weekend my sisters and I are headed down to St. George for a girls trip and I cannot wait!! Love catching up with them, relaxing, and doing our favorite things together!

Kailee Wright Nordstrom kids pumpkin patch

:: CLEAN OUT + UPDATE KIDS CLOSETS

This one falls a little more in the “to-do” category, but it is something I love getting done. With the new season and growing kids, I like to try to clean out their closets every season. But the fun part about cleaning them out is getting to pull out + stock up on our fall favorites. I usually try to stock up on all our fall needs at the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale. Over the years I have learned that Nordstrom has the best fall basics for kids, from great cardigans for layering to some of the cutest boots and booties! You’ll see in todays pictures they have something for everyone! I love that I can just order online and do free shipping or curbside pickup while I’m running errands so it is quick and easy to update closets!
