Fun Easter Basket Ideas for All Ages

Kailee Wright Easter Baskets for kids and teens

I swear this year is just flying right by! Can you believe we are already so close to Easter?! I am not complaining at all because Spring and Summer are my absolute favorite time of the year. Bring on all the sunshine!! Easter is one of my favorites for that very reason! We love getting outside together and the fun holidays that bring us together with family like Easter. Easter Baskets are one of my favorite gifts to put together, because I love to fill them with things to prep for the upcoming spring and summer! Since I’ll be filling an Easter basket for everyone from toddlers to teens, I thought I’d share some of my favorite Easter Basket ideas with you!

When it comes to filling an Easter Basket, I tend to do things a little different than most. I am not all about the toys, and if you know me less is always more. SIMPLIFY in all things! Haha! This applies to my Easter Baskets too. My favorite things to include are things they already need but can double as a gift, and things that we can do together as a family or they can do with each other, and things that they can use to play outside since it is the beginning of all the sunshine! With that in mind here are my ideas for kids and teens!

And last but not least, the mom hack to Easter Basket Egg filling!! I am not a fan of a lot of candy in our house. Yes we still eat plenty but an overload on holidays is not my favorite. So instead of filling eggs with loads of candy, we fill them with MONEY and the kids love it!! It does not have to be expensive at all. We are talking dollars, quarters, dimes, anything. They all love it and you aren’t left with the candy hangover from everyone the next day!

I hope these Easter Basket ideas are helpful as you prepare yours. I wanna know, what are some of your favorite Easter Basket fillers or Easter traditions?

3 Easy Ways to Make Toilet Paper Storage Look Better

Kailee Wright Toilet paper wire baskets

We’ve talked about how I love to stock up on paper goods whenever I shop for them. Why not? We’re never not going to need toilet paper am I right? But stocking up means having a clean simple way to store and organize that excess as well. So as simple as it seems, today I wanted to share 3 easy ways to make your toilet paper storage look a little better, but be functional too!

I think it’s important that you keep toilet paper stored in every single bathroom.This may seem obvious, but there are many people that keep back stock stored in a cold storage area, or in their pantry or linen closet. I think it’s important to divide up your storage into each individual bathroom to avoid the dreaded empty roll when you REALLY need it!  We’ve all heard it, “mom! I need toilet paper!” At a bare minimum, keep at least three extra rolls in each bathroom at all times. Depending on what kind of storage you already have in your bathrooms, there are some unique options that I’ve come across that can help you be able to stock up and save in your bathroom.  These options all great ways to avoid that desperate need for a square, without compromising style and organization.

: FLOATING SHELVES

First up, is the option I think works best in a powder bath. Floating shelves are an incredible storage option that keeps a clean modern spin on your design, and doesn’t compromise on space! Once you have a shelf that flows with your design, you can style them with stacked toilet paper itself, or tuck it away in a basket on the shelf. Incorporating the toilet paper into the styled shelf keeps it close by, but in more of a design aspect at the same time.

. . . SHOP MINIMAL SHELVING OPTIONS . . .

. . .

: BASKETS

This option in my opinion is as good as it gets when it comes to toilet paper storage, and what we do in our Master Bathroom. So many times bathrooms are lacking natural elements, keeping them feeling sterile and not very homey. Adding a basket, with or without a lid, helps the room feel more “done” as well as helps store as much toilet paper as you need. Play around with this and try different basket styles to fit your own personal style.

. . . SHOP BASKET STORAGE OPTIONS .  .  .

: UNDER THE SINK

This is a common family go to. Most bathrooms have some form of vanity or cabinet storage which makes this option easy.  But please don’t just throw it in there and call it good. We want things to stay organized under there! I recommend placing a plastic tub or basket inside your cabinet to hold the toilet paper. That way the toilet paper has a place and isn’t getting shuffled around. This will also protect against any leaks and spills that always seem to happen.

I know it seems simple, but taking the time to organize the small things make the biggest difference in your home organization overall. So I’m curious, what’s your go to way to store your extra toilet paper?

Our Home: Master Bedroom + Bath

Today we are continuing on the home tour rewind and taking you inside our Master Bedroom + Bath! I love that a couple years later I am still in love with the design and the clean light bright feel of it!

When I sat down to go over the design for our Master Bedroom, I wanted it to feel clean, cozy, light, and bright. The first step to getting the light and bright I craved was the big windows! As I’m sure you’ve noticed, we have them around the whole house. I love how much more open and alive it makes everything feel. We were concerned about having such big windows in the Master Bedroom for both privacy + too much light when sleeping, but thanks to our auto shades from Park City Blinds, we can quickly transform the space. They have really been SUCH a game changer and they were so great to work with!!

Our Master Bedroom has actually became a place where we spend a lot of time as family too. Sometimes it is to tackle the laundry together. Sometimes it’s for a movie snuggle on the bed. We wanted the room to be comfortable for them too. We added this fun couch and bench to give a little more “decorative” seating for when the whole gang comes in, but honestly we usually all end up piled on the bed!

I’ve also been getting a lot of questions over on Instagram about our bed too! I really wanted something that matched our light flooring and didn’t feel like it weighed down the space, even though it is such big focal piece. You’ll notice we avoided having any dressers to keep the space open, and have everything organized in the Master Closet. So I was thrilled when we found this great option from Rove.

Kailee Wright Master Bedroom

We wanted to keep with the simple, light, and bright, so we went with white bedding. It is such an easy way to brighten up your space and keep it looking timeless. I can switch up the design by just trading out a few pillows! For now I wanted to add a few pops of pink because it needed a touch of girly, so I threw in one of my very favorite pillows, as well as these pink vases (just on my side!) to give it a little pop. We balanced the girly by pulling some blue in with these two prints I fell in love with from Minted. I love that they bring color but aren’t too bold, and tie the couch in to the design.

Kailee Wright Master Bedroom

For lighting, we of course wanted something that could help brighten the space, but again I didn’t want the bulk. I asked my girl Mendee from Lighting Design who helped us source lights throughout the house if she had any ideas to fit my vision and of course she came through! These hanging Hudson Valley pendants were perfect for above the nightstands, allowing us to steer clear of any clutter.

To finish off the space, I went with my two favorite touches, pillows and plants! I cannot have a room without both!! To me it is such a great way to add a personalized touch to your space! It is no secret I am obsessed with these pillows, as they are now a part of every room in the house!

While I’m sharing the Master Bedroom, I thought I’d give you a peek inside the Master Bath too! Our main goal, like the rest of the house, was to keep it light and open. We wanted to avoid clutter as much as possible and love how it turned out!

So I think that covers everything in the space! But if I missed anything you wanted more details on, please let me know and I’ll add it to the post! I hope you love the space as much as we do!

My Top 5 Favorite Makeup Storage Products

Kailee Wright master bathroom organization

Raise your hand if you love makeup!  Because I have done hair for so many years, I’m definitely a hair product lover but that love for new products has definitely spilled over into makeup and I’ve loved it.  With a growing makeup collection and being able to accumulate tried and true products that I absolutely love, I have tried a few different makeup storage and organizational tricks that have proved super helpful in our minimalistic home.  I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again, I love for everything in our home to have a place.  Makeup is no exception.  If we’re keeping it, it will have a place to go.

When beginning to organize a makeup collection, I would recommend that you begin by purging anything that you don’t use more regularly. Things like old eye makeup or cracked + broken powders.  It always helps to start with a clean slate so your organizing what you use, not any unnecessary extras.

Now for the fun part!  Organizing your products.  There are so many ways that this can be done. I’ve seen many women sort their products by area of the face (face/base, eyes, lips, cheeks). This is an awesome choice if you like to keep a lot of products.  Another option that is really effective is to decide HOW you like to apply your makeup.  Are you usually at your bathroom counter, getting ready with minimal product?  A shallow drawer organization may be best suited for you.  Maybe you are usually on the go when you apply your makeup?  I’d recommend keeping your daily products in a high quality makeup bag instead.  It really just depends on how you apply your makeup most often and making that effective and organized.

: SHALLOW DRAWER STORAGE

If you like to apply your makeup at your bathroom counter and you have shallow drawers at that counter, I recommend these clear drawer organizers.  They are the perfect depth and look sleek and clean.  You can use these sticky putty dots on the bottoms of your organizers to make sure that they aren’t slipping and sliding as the drawers open and close.

Kailee Wright Makeup organization

clear tote holder

: DEEP DRAWER STORAGE

This is one of my favorite bathroom organizational products so far.  I love these clear totes for everything, especially to organize morning and evening skincare products but they would also work magnificently for makeup organization and brush organization to keep your brushes open to the air.  If you have deep drawers or cabinets as your storage location for makeup, these make such an easy option to grab your tote, apply your makeup, and clean up easily.

Kailee Wright Makeup organization

bins with LIDS

: BACK STOCK STORAGE

I love using these little bins with clear lids for extra makeup products, back stock, and other beauty products that I don’t use daily.  The fact that they have clear lids is what makes them so great because I can easily tell what’s inside and we can stack them on top of each other for easy storage.

Acrylic Clear Organizer

: VISIBLE COUNTERTOP/VANITY STORAGE

Makeup product packaging has become so beautiful so if you are someone who loves to keep your pretty products on display, these clear acrylic organizers are a wonderful option.  There are so many configurations that will suit your needs so I would make sure that you look at your collection and buy an organizer with a little more space than you think you need, just to be safe.

: TRAVEL

And finally, I think we all need a great makeup bag but especially if you are one who does your makeup on the go consistently!  Makeup bags have come a long ways but a few things that I think are important to consider are that your bag is solid and able to protect glass products if you use them, that it has the ability to store brushes without them getting crushed, and that it is easily washable.

I hope you found this helpful and that you’ll tag me if you try any of these makeup organization options!

3 Tips to Simple Bathroom Organization for Kids

harper’s similar top + shorts  ||  hayden’s similar top + jeans  ||  clear drawer organizers

How many of you are taking this fresh new year and time at home to tackle all the home organization projects you’ve been putting on the back burner?? We definitely are and one of those forever delayed projects is organizing the Kids Bathroom! It has basically been a free for all since we moved in. The kids usually end up getting ready for school and such in our bathroom, so I didn’t really see a need for it. But now that they are getting more independent, and spending more time getting themselves ready, we decided it was time for some organization!! Organizing a space that functions primarily for kids is a little different than your typical project. So today I wanted to share 3 tips to simplify the process and make it the most functional for your people!

:: SIMPLIFY WHAT YOU SEE

I don’t know about you, but when I am given too many choices, my mind instantly goes to overwhelm and resorts to a brain freeze. Our kids often react the same way. It is usually easier to narrow things down for them with 2-3 options. The same thing goes for organization. If your kids open their drawer and see 5 toothbrushes, 10 lipglosses, and 35 scrunchies, it is going to create instant overwhelm. How do they know what to use? And how do you keep such a congested space organized? That is where my first tip of simplifying what you see comes in.

Kailee Wright Kids Bathroom container store

clear drawer organizers (all sizes available at this link)

Try to keep your main areas they are going to see often as simple as possible. This means narrowing items down to the ones you use most and putting your back stock out of sight. Maybe 1-2 lip glosses, 1 hair brush, 1 toothbrush, etc. Not only does this make what they are seeing simplified, but it makes cleaning up/keeping the organization in tact a lot easier. Take all the extras and put them somewhere they aren’t going to see every day. These drawer organizers from The Container Store help give you a simplified clean look for your basic every day items, making it easy for kids to know how to put things back where they go.

:: DIVIDERS MAKE DREAMS COME TRUE

It should come as no surprise to any of you that having a shopping spree to The Container Store would be a dream come true for me. Yes I completely love the look of their products in a space like my pantry where it keeps things uniform and clean, but the number one reason I love their products is the function. Every time I go on their website, I find something new and amazing.

Everything I got from The Container Store for the kids bathrooms has been such a game changer. My favorites are probably these dividers and these under sink drawers. First up the dividers. These are one of the biggest examples of why I say dividers make dreams come true in a kids space. Dividers help categorize things for your kids so they can see what they have and be able to use the products as well as easily keep them organized, instead of forgetting you even have certain products because they get shoved to the back of a cupboard.

stackable drawers

These under sink drawers have been so amazing too! I don’t know about you, but I have always hated the wasted space around the pipes and these solve that making your space so much more functional.

If your stuck on where to start or what products would work best, honestly just go to their website or Instagram. They have so many great ideas I never would’ve thought of on my own to simplify your space.

:: INCLUDE THEIR INPUT

Last but definitely not least, is probably one of my biggest tips! When it comes to getting your kids to help out more around the house, whether it is with keeping things organized, chores house, or anything is to include their input. They want to be heard. The bathroom is their space, so let them have a say in how things are organized. They are the ones that are going to be using it (and hopefully cleaning it up). So take into consideration what works best for them. Hayden loved taking charge of her drawers. I can tell her sense of ownership is playing a big part in her wanting to keep her space “perfect”.

3 Tips for storing your Paper Goods

kailee wright pantry organization paper goodsimilar dress + bracelets (KAILEEWRIGHT15 for 15% off)  ||  houston’s tee + shorts

Something I love to always stock up on is paper goods. I’m talking paper towels, toilet paper, paper plates, and plastic silverware. I like to stock up because these are items that we will never not need, you know?! If I ever find them on sale, I’m stocking up and saving.

With that being said, when we restock these in our home, that means that the new back stock all needs a place to go. I like to make sure that our paper goods are stored somewhere central to our living areas. Somewhere where anyone in the family can refill and restock if necessary. And of course, in true Kailee fashion, I want the storage of them to be pretty and aesthetically pleasing.

kailee wright pantry organization paper good

:: Tip One – Unwrap and Unbox EVERYTHING

As soon as your paper towels, toilet paper, and other paper goods are delivered, make sure that you unwrap and unbox them before putting them away.  This may seem like a waste of time in the moment but this serves two important purposes. First of all, you eliminate the mess and time later. Next time your kids need an emergency roll of paper towels, they don’t have to find scissors and/or leave plastic wrap all over the house. Second, it looks better. So much better. And you deserve it to look better.

kailee wright pantry organization paper good

:: Tip Two – Make a picnic basket.

Okay, not literally a picnic basket (unless you want it to be). But think of how helpful it would be on busy nights, for kids pizza parties, or if you’re headed out camping to be able to grab a box or bin full of paper plates, napkins, plastic silverware, and cups.  I’m telling you, it’s such a time saver and so nice to have!  For the moments when you can’t or won’t be able to do dishes (home renovations, for a babysitter, broken dishwasher, etc.) this is a game changer.

:: Tip Three – The Old Trash Bag Trick

You’ve seen this before and it’s pretty genius if you ask me. I’m not sure why more of us aren’t doing this. ESPECIALLY those of us with kids taking the garbage out as one of their chores. Place 2-4 garbage bags in the basin of each garbage can before changing the bag. That way, the next 2-4 times that the garbage needs taking out, you don’t have to go to another room to get a new bag. You can easily put a new one in.  I’m all about a time management hack and this may not seem like a big deal but when you’re having kids or family members change the garbage that may not know where the bags are, this is super helpful and time saving.

5 Tips to Simplify Your Pantry Organization

Kailee Wright Pantry with Neat Method

my top + jeans + bracelets  ||  harper’s dress + similar top  ||  kid’s aprons

If you know me, then you know about my love for all things organization. There is just something about a clean organized space that makes it happier and of course more functional. When we first moved in, I worked with Neat Method + The Container Store to overhaul the pantry and you guys, they made dreams come true!! I’ve been sharing pieces of the pantry over on Instagram and thought it would be a great time to do a full refresh of this post with ALL the details + some tips!

:: CONSIDER YOUR STAGE OF LIFE

When it comes to organizing any space in your home, especially your pantry, consider your stage of life. As you know, we had our pantry all organized perfectly functional for us, but life changes. We no longer need a space for bottles, formula, sippy cups, or baby food. That is a lifestyle change and your organization needs to reflect that. Another example is how we have recently started putting a lot more focus on healthy living. When we first organized the pantry, we didn’t have a single supplement or protein powder, so of course we ended up just kind of throwing everything all together in one basket and hiding it. I love that everything has a home now that works and compliments our current stage of life.

Kailee Wright Pantry with Neat Method

:: MAKE IT USER FRIENDLY

When organizing your pantry, think about what you use the most often. That should be in the most easily accessible place in your pantry. When it comes to your kids, think about what you do and do not want them to have access too. Items like snacks should be accessible. If you want them to help out with making lunch or breakfast, make those items easy for them to reach, use, and be able to put back nicely. The flow and how you line things up with be specifically to your family so make it efficient to your needs.

:: CATEGORIZE + CONTAIN

Another way to make things more user friendly is to categorize + contain. Keep things that go together, together. It is as easy as that! So have a “baking station” where everything from flour + sugar to chocolate chips + sprinkles live. A lunch station for your kids that is home to the peanut butter + bread as well as side snacks. I love that with this revamp, we were able to include a “shake station” where I can easily access all the ingredients I use in my protein shake. Making things user friendly encourages you to meal prep more too!

:: OUT OF SIGHT, OUT OF MIND

With toddlers running around everywhere, one thing I really wanted to change in this pantry update was their access to certain products. I was getting really tired of constantly cleaning up snacks they had gotten into and spilled everywhere, or finding out how many pieces of gum or chocolate chips they had consumed when I wasn’t looking. That is why I love these gray baskets. In most cases I like clear, accessible containers. But when I am trying to hide things from my kids, these are perfect. They are great for things that are multiple sizes, like medicines or “extras” too, because your eye still just sees the nice uniform container.

. . .

Kailee Wright Pantry with Neat Method

:: THINK OF YOUR BUDGET STRATEGICALLY

Another pantry organizing tip is to think of your budget strategically. When we first did our pantry, I didn’t really think it was important to spend my limited budget on detail organization, like taking everything out of the package. But many stale bags of cereal and spilled chocolate chips later, this time around I am willing to invest in sealed containers I can transfer things over to. If you are starting small, you might just go with bigger baskets to categorize areas, and some labels. Really consider what is going to make the biggest impact on efficiency in your space and use your budget accordingly.

Kailee Wright Pantry with Neat Method

:: KEEP IT UP

Last but not least, is to keep it up. Don’t think that you are going to organize a space like your pantry one day and you are done. Take your kids on a “tour” of the space when its done. It will help them to how you keep it looking that way. Plan on doing a 10 minute “upkeep” every month to get rid of old food, take stock of what you need to replenish, and maybe reorganize spaces that aren’t working efficiently. It will take some maintenance but is so worth it!!

My Go-To Costco Grocery List

Kailee Wright Walmart Delivery

my similar tee + jeans + bracelets (KAILEEWRIGHT15 for 15% off)  ||  houston’s tee + shorts

Costco is one of those places that I could totally fill a few carts in… in one shopping trip.  I get completely sucked in every time.  That’s why I think it’s super helpful to have a list of our go-to products that we need so that I can stay focused every time I go in.  Bonus points if I order a delivery and skip the temptation!

As I’ve shown you all how we like to organize our pantry, I realized that I haven’t really talked about what we love to fill it with. With five growing kids, you better believe that our grocery bill is up there, but buying things in bulk at Costco helps keep things reasonable. Making sure that things stay organized in our pantry prevents us from wasting too much.

Frozen Lasagna: This one is super helpful for busy nights!  The whole family absolutely loves these and they make quick work of an otherwise time intensive dinner with lots of dishes after.  Pro-tip: We love using these for neighbor meals as well.

Fruit: Grabbing a few bags of frozen fruit is a must because we love using them in protein shakes and smoothies for breakfast or after school snacks.  Mango, blueberries, and the berry mixes are our favorites.

: DELLI AND DARIY

Ground Beef: This is another super cost-effective meat to add to your dinners. I like to divide it into freezer-safe zip-loc bags for easy thawing so we have just enough for one meal.

Deli Turkey: Perfect for wraps or sandwiches for lunches!

Eggs: We go through eggs pretty quickly so I like to buy them in bulk at Costco.  Their egg whites are awesome to have on hand as well!

Milk: 5 kids. Need I say more? Bulk milk is a MUST!

Shredded Cheese: We will usually go through this before it goes bad so it’s much more cost-effective for us to buy it in bulk.

: BAKERY

Bread: If you buy bread in bulk, you can definitely pop additional loaves in the freezer and pull them out to thaw when you’re ready to eat.

Tortillas: Same deal with tortillas, we go through these quickly between tacos, quesadillas, and breakfast burritos. We love the frozen/refrigerated uncooked kind! So yummy!

Muffins: Have you had the Costco muffins though?!  Oh my gosh, they’re so good.  We like to cut them in half and freeze to use for quick breakfasts. Another great hack is to stick them in for a kids lunch. They thaw out just in time!

Snacks: Costco definitely gives you the most bang for your buck when it comes to pre-packaged snacks.  Here are a few of our go-tos:

  • Goldfish
  • Crackers
  • Protein Bars
  • Apple Sauce Packets
  • Fruit Snacks
  • Granola Bars
  • Instant Breakfast Packets

Cereal – You may have seen in our pantry organizing tour that I love to unbox and unbag cereals and keep them in their own airtight containers so that we can always see what we have left.

I bought this tunic on a whim because it looked comfy on the website and boy am I glad I did!! While it definitely isn’t going to keep you warm in a Utah winter, the comfort level is through the roof!! I love the button sleeve detail so you can still have the oversized look without sleeves getting dirty/in the way..

I’m not gonna lie, when I first saw these nails all over the internet, I thought it sounded way too good to be true. But after a lot of hesitation I gave in and they are AMAZING!!! It takes me 15 minutes tops to do a full set, and mine lasted (looking amazing still) for 3 weeks!!! You cannot beat that price or convenience. They have a few different shapes to choose from, so many colors, and even little girl sizes so you can match your minis!

Best of Amazon: PANTRY STORAGE

Kailee Wright Pantry with Neat Method

similar top + jeans + harper’s dress  ||  clear drawers + metal baskets + white bins

The pantry is one of my favorite parts of our home. I love it so much because I’ve worked with Neat Method a few times to make sure that it’s absolutely perfect for our family’s needs.  If you know me, you know I love a well-organized, efficient space for myself and our kids to make lunches, prepare meal prep, or grab snacks on the way out the door. So I thought it would be both fun + helpful to share some budget friendly pantry storage pieces that I think will help transform your pantry from hot mess to no stress!!

:: SPICE STORAGE

Fun fact, I don’t really keep that many spices in our home.  We only use a few consistently and I don’t see the point in stocking up on spices we won’t use often. With that being said, I do know that spice organization can be tricky. Not only are you stuck with a bunch of different sized spice containers, but the labeling is not always easy to read or either!  It shouldn’t be that difficult to find what you’re looking for, with the right tools!

:: DRY GOODS STORAGE

I think that a lot of people may overlook the importance of putting your powdered goods in sealed, organized containers but I’m telling you, this will save you money in the long run!  Knowing exactly how much we have left and being able to use every last drop, rather than letting an old bag get pushed around to the back of our pantry and spilled is a game changer. Having streamlined containers for your flour, sugar, cereal, protein powders, and other dried goods not only makes your pantry look AMAZING but also helps you know exactly what you have and what you need more of when the time comes.

:: GRAB AND GO STORAGE

This one is important to the littles in our home!  I love to have them choose snacks on their own but I don’t love when it becomes a huge mess.  No thank you.  So when we worked with Neat Method to make our pantry exactly what we needed, we decided to make sure that anything I wanted them to be able to grab on their own was in individualized bags and anything I wanted kept out of reach was put up high (aka – big bags of chips and candy).   We love to use drawers for our grab and go storage so we just added drawer separators that are expandable and keep everything neat and tidy.  If you have drawer space for this, it’s such a great option!  If not, I’ll link a few baskets and bins I love.

:: CAN STORAGE

Oh, canned storage.  This is a big one here in Utah because we love to stock up in case of emergency!  But there are two important thing to remember with cans. One, you need to be able to easily see what you have. And two, you need to easily grab the can that has the soonest expiration date. There are many different ways you may decide to store your canned goods but in my opinion, consider how many cans you keep and use regularly before you purchase storage options.

Our Home: A Look Inside Our Playroom Closet

Kailee Wright Playroom Closet

similar jeans  |  |  similar sweater black labels  |  clear bins (similar) – smallmediumlarge

When we started designing our house, I told Joe there were a few things that in my mind were non-negotiable. At the top of the list, was this vision I had for a Playroom Closet. We honestly designed our basement layout around making this work. I am so so happy with how it turned out. I showed a little sneak peek on my Instagram Stories a few weeks ago. The flood of requests for more details was crazy, so I decided today I’d take you inside our playroom closet + share the 3 design features that were most important to us!

Kailee Wright Playroom Closet

SIZE…

If you notice, I said Playroom Closet, not just Playroom. The space we used is about the size of a large walk in closet, not a full room. Our number one goal in this house was functionality. We wanted zero wasted space. Since we had the whole basement that can be used as play space, I didn’t want to add another room. The closet concept is enough space for all the toys, gives the little people room to play, but doesn’t add a lot of extra  room for excess mess. It has been perfect to fit our needs.

EASY TO HIDE…

Our house in California was TINY, especially for a family our size. Since we were tight on space, the main room you walked right into doubled as a playroom/nursery. You can see what it was like here.  I loved the design, but could not stand that all the toys/mess were the first thing everyone saw when they came over. In the new house I wanted a place for my people to play + have fun, that was close to a main space that the adults would also use. I also wanted the option of shutting the door and having it be invisible when needed. The closet concept has been the perfect way to fit our needs, but tuck it away and close the barn door when we want.

ORGANIZED…

I know this comes as no surprise to anyone. My OCD self had to have organization. I did not want the closet to just become a leaning tower of toys. Chelsea from NEAT Method (who helped with the pantry),  gave me a few tips and I love how it turned out. These clear bins were the perfect solution. I love that they are clear so the little people (especially Houston) can easily find what they are wanting to play with. The labels make it super quick for my bigger kids to help clean up , because its easy to find where things belong.

I think my number one favorite thing about the playroom closet is the “extra box”.  It is the simplest concept, but has made the biggest difference with attitudes during clean up. All I did was add an extra clear box, that isn’t the designated home for anything. My people know that if we are in a rush to clean up, and there are a few odds and ends, they can throw everything in that extra box. Usually once a week or so, they know they  have to go through the extra box and put things where they really go. It keeps the room looking clean + organized all the time, and has saved us from a lot of whining!

A playroom closet is nothing crazy or hard to do, but it has been a game changer for us. The functionality + convenience for us can’t be beat! If i missed any questions you had on this space, please don’t hesitate to ask!!
