Why Walmart+ is 100% worth it

Anyone else feel like Summer takes any thought of a schedule or structure and just throws it out the window? I always think things will calm down in the Summer without school. And I am always quickly reminded how wild it actually is! Balancing the fun mom act with actually getting things done can be tricky, which is why I have a few “mom hacks” I keep in my routine to help knock the must do’s so we can focus on the fun to do’s. And the top hack in that list is Walmart+.

My love for Walmart+ is no secret around here. Their grocery pickup + delivery option saves me on a daily basis! But every time I talk about it I get a lot of questions on what the benefits are and if it is worth the price (spoiler: it is!!), so today I’m sharing why I love it so much + why you are going to too!

: WHAT IS WALMART+?

Let’s start with the basics. What is Walmart+? Walmart+ is a membership service offered by Walmart, designed to save you both time and money. Everything from free delivery from your local store (on orders$35+, restrictions apply), free shipping no order minimum (excludes freight and Marketplace items) mobile scan & go shopping, and member prices on fuel, all bundled up in one user friendly membership!

:WHAT ARE THE BENEFITS?

The benefits of Walmart+ are amazing! Over the last couple of months I have shared my love for how streamlined Walmart delivery and grocery pick up are, and this takes it to a whole new level. These are some of my absolute favorites:

FREE DELIVERY FROM YOUR LOCAL STORE: No more fee for every single delivery order!! This benefit is valid on orders $35+ and some restrictions apply. Whether you are shopping for groceries, school supplies, diapers or tech, with a few restrictions you are offered free delivery on orders over $35. That means you could order multiple times a week if needed and it does not change your membership cost.And not only is it free, but it is fast! Depending on your area and availability, your deliveries could be as soon as same day! It has been so convenient for groceries and last minute school needs! I can’t even tell you how many times I have needed something for a last minute school project, birthday party or meal and been able to jump on and quickly place an order for delivery or pickup as soon as the same day.
FREE SHIPPING, NO ORDER MINIMUM: This is one of my favorite features! No more worrying about an order minimum when it comes to snagging your free shipping. Just add eligible items (they say “shipped from Walmart” in the description), add them to your cart, and the shipping fee will be waived at checkout! It is as easy as that!
MEMBER PRICES ON FUEL: Another great benefit I am loving is member prices on fuel. As part of your membership, you save 5 cents per gallon at Walmart & Murphy Gas Stations.
MOBILE SCAN & GO: Last but definitely not least on the list of membership benefits is the mobile scan & go. This isn’t a benefit I have used a lot myself because I’m too in love with the delivery + pickup option. However, if you do go in store this is SO convenient. This allows you to scan your products as you shop in store and check out from your phone. It is so convenient, to not only checkout faster, but be able to watch you budget as you go as well. I’ve used it a couple of times so far and absolutely loved it. I could just scan my few items, checkout on my phone and go.

: HOW MUCH DOES IT COST?

The price for your Walmart+ membership depends on which option you choose. You can choose to pay $12.95/month or annually for $98/year. The annual plan comes out to just $2 a week and basically pays for itself after 2 uses! (based on $7.95 delivery fee)

For me I was sold on the convenience alone, but if you break down the numbers of how much you can save if you are eligible for member prices on fuel and extra items you didn’t plan on getting as well, it is a no brainer!

Another thing I try to take into consideration is the time it is saving me. To me, my time is priceless and knowing how much time these benefits save me make it worth every single penny!

: DO YOU TRULY LOVE IT?

This is for sure a YES! If you know me you know I would never share about or promote something I don’t truly use and love. And Walmart+ has made my life so much easier that I want to share it with every person in the world!!

Teen Takeover: Answering all Your Questions

Hey Guys! Hunter here for another Teen Takeover!! With the end of school and soccer getting crazy busy, it has been awhile since I have done one of these! A couple of months ago I did a teen q+ a over on my mom’s Instagram and got a lot of fun questions on everything from sleepovers to boys and all the in between! I thought it would be fun to another one here on the blog with more questions you submitted on Instagram! Hope you like it!

: How do you build self confidence and not compare yourself to others? What is your best advice for a teen that struggles with this?

I just don’t care what people think about me. If you like me, great, and if you don’t well then good for you. My mom plays a big part in building up my confidence. She always tells me I am confident and reminds me to tell myself that as well. I feel like a lot of girls compare themselves to others and that is hard to get away from sometimes. I still do, but then I look at what I have and how grateful I am for that and try to be positive and happy with who I am.

My advice would be to try not to compare and to think about how we all have different lives and things we are going through. Comparing yourself to others just brings you down and blocks out all the good things you like about yourself. So try and look at those things and repeat them to yourself. I know it sounds dumb but it works.

: What is your best advice for helping a teen daughter deal with mean girls or bullies?

Do your best to ignore them and try not to let them get in your head. Usually the only reason people are being mean is because they are going through something hard and taking it out on you, or because they are dealing with their own insecurities.

: What is the hardest part of being a teen in 2021?

It is different for everyone, but I think a big struggle for teens is just trying to find out who we are and what/who we want to be, and who we want to surround ourselves with. Choosing so much for your future and having good friends by your side is stressful!

: What is the best advice your mom has given you?

This one is so hard because she has given me a ton of advice and I love it all. Some of my favorites are to always try my best and to be confident and focus on me/not what others think. Or to be kind to everyone no matter what.

: Do you feel like you can talk to your mom about anything? If so, why do you have that trust?

Yes! My mom and I have a very open relationship and we tell each other everything. I think what made it that way for me is she says that she will never get mad at me if I just tell her so I think that makes me feel more open to it.

: What quality do you most admire in your mom?

Gosh there are so many!! I love that I can tell my mom anything. And I love how insane of a hard worker she is. I also love how encouraging and supportive she is in everything we do. And that she is a good role model of not caring what others think about her.

: What quality do you most admire in your dad?

I love that my dad pushes me to do hard things and learn life lessons. He is always looking farther in life to teach me how my decisions and actions now will effect me. I love that I know he always just expects my best and he will love me no matter what. And he is SO funny and fun to be around!

: What is your favorite family tradition?

I think my favorite is probably when we turn 12 and 16 we get to go on a trip with just our parents.

: How do you feel about being a girl named Hunter?

Haha this one is funny because my guy friends always make fun of my name and say its a boy name. But I honestly love it because it is more unique, I don’t know other girls named that, and it just fits me.

: What do you do in your free time in the Summer?

I love swimming, laying out by the pool, boating, hanging out with friends, watching movies, LOTS of soccer and traveling.

: Best gift idea for a 14 year old girl?

I would say a cute phone case, clothes/shoes, airpods, or a trip somewhere with just you!

: Do you have a job or get paid allowance?

Right now my job is babysitting for my mom. I also do chores and get paid allowance for that. You can see the details on that in this post I did.

: What is your mom’s sleepover rule, and how do you feel about it?

My parents have a rule that we cannot have sleepovers. I don’t like it at all.

: What is your curfew? Do you agree with your mom/parents on this?

My parents “say” there is a curfew…but it honestly depends on the night and what is going on. In summer it’s 10 or 10:30 on the weekdays, which I think is too early. On the weekends it is 11 or 11:30.

: Do you have a phone and if so, what are your rules? Do you think it is fair?

Yes I do have a phone, but there are a lot of rules + restrictions. I am not allowed to have my phone downstairs (where my room is), my phone turns off at a set time every night, I only have an hour of texting/FaceTime (which is the worst), and I have no extra apps. Do I think it is far, no, I think it is too much. But my parents are very slowly getting more chill.

: Do you have social media? Do you think kids/teens should be able to?

As of right now, no I don’t. I might get Instagram soon. Honestly, I think it depends on the teen and their maturity and responsibility level. Some can handle it fine.

: What do you argue about most with your parents?

Definitely my phone rules and curfew.

: Do you have a boyfriend? Or any crushes?

No boyfriend. Crush…yes and no…it is complicated!

: Do you plan on going to college? If so, what do you want to major in and what is your dream school?

Yes I do! My dream school right now would be BYU Hawaii. I’m still not sure what I want to major in.

I LOVE this one for working out/soccer. It is super breathable and comes in a bunch of colors. This is my favorite for every day.

This one was hard to narrow down!! But I am loving this one!

: Favorite Jeans –

I love to steal my mom’s jeans so I’ve found some good ones I really love! These are probably my very favorite right now. Super flattering and comfortable and I like all the distressing.

This is another one my mom and I both love!! These shorts are a cute length for every day or a pool cover up. And they come in a bunch of different washes.

What is your favorite season? I am definitely a summer girl through and through! Give me all the heat and sunshine!! I love spending time by the pool or at the beach, and soaking up all the extra time with my people home from school! My Daily Food Diary

If you knew me a couple of years ago, eating healthy or the thought of even paying attention to what I eat was not on my mind. I love my sweets and was blessed with good genetics so it wasn’t something I paid a lot of attention to.

But I started to notice that I wasn’t happy with how I felt. I was constantly tired and lacking energy to get what I needed done. On top of that, I wanted to build more muscle so I knew I was ready for a change. I cannot even begin to tell you how happy I have been with the changes, the energy, and the mental clarity. Since I get asked a lot what I eat in a day, I thought it would be helpful to share a little day in the life, food diary edition. I am not strict on the exact times, but this will give you a good idea.

First off, before I dive into that, one thing I wanted to address. I get a lot of questions on if I’m on any kind of diet, or follow a strict meal plan, and the answer is no. I am a firm believer that a diet and restriction is not the answer. My mom always said no diet ever works. For me, I knew I wouldn’t stick to anything too demanding, and that listening to my body while making healthier choices was the best way to start.

That being said, I did have my good friends Erika + JJ of Clean Simple Eats calculate my macros for me to use as a guideline and it has helped a ton in actually seeing how MUCH I NEED to EAT, vs the typical mind set of how much I need to restrict. While this may not be for everyone, it has been a huge help to me and may be helpful to you too! So here is the food diary!

After my workout (at about 7:30 am) :

I always try (key word try, not always successful) to get my workout in before the kids wake up, so I am done at around 7:30 to help them get ready for school. Once I am done with my workout, I drink my celery juice. Every time I share this I get comments and questions on it, so I will address a few of the main ones here.

. Is it good? …NO. It does not taste good at all, but I suck it up and drink it because of the benefits.

. Do you add anything to it? … No, I personally do just straight celery juice.

. What are the benefits? … Benefits include improved digestion, reduced inflammation, boosts overall gut health, lowers blood sugar and aides in relieving migraines.

. What juicer do you use? I have been using this one since I started a year ago and LOVE it. Easy to use, safe for little helpers, and clean up is simple!

Around 8:00 am :

Once I have waited about 20-30 minutes after having my celery juice I will do breakfast. First I take my tablespoon of trim collagen. This stuff is incredible and I have loved the results. You can read all about why I take it plus get a discount here.

After my trim collagen tablespoon, I drink my shake from Clean Simple Eats. It is called the Chocolate Almond Joy Shake. Along with the protein shake I will usually have an english muffin with butter.

“Second Breakfast” (at about 9:30-10)

Once I get all the big kids off to school and things settle down, I usually take the time to have the rest of my breakfast or really a mid morning snack. I’m all about quick and easy. My go to favorites are usually one of these delicious protein bites or some greek yogurt.

Lunch (at about 12-12:30) :

Again I am all about quick and simple while trying to make healthy choices. My lunch is usually 1 egg + 1/2 cup egg whites with cheese and avocado or a turkey + cheese sandwich with avocado.

2:00 ish (snack time…yes again!)

Around mid afternoon I am hungry again and ready for another snack. With snacks I really try to focus on protein. My usual is a Peanut Butter Chocolate Chip G2G bar (KAILEE for 15% off). Oh my gosh you guys, if you haven’t tried them yet you must!! They are seriously one of my very favorite treats. My kids are even hooked on them now too. Our extra fridge in the garage has turned into the G2G fridge, because they are so yummy nice and cold.

Dinner (at 4:00 or 4:30) :

We eat dinner a little earlier than the norm for two reasons. One I think it helps from having the little people eat your entire house in empty snacks because they are starving. And two because we are busy and it is the time that works best for us to be together.

My go to for dinners that we all love come from the Clean Simple Eats meal plans. I’ve said it at least 100 times, and you’ll probably hear me say it 100 more, but if you don’t already have the Clean Simple Eats plans, you need them in your life. I love that they were made for (and by) busy parents trying to make healthier choices in their eating habits. I have loved every single thing I’ve tried, and that is saying a lot coming from a very picky eater. The recipes are delicious and easily customizable to fit your needs or preferences. If I don’t do one of those, the air fryer has become my new best friend for cooking chicken. I will have that with some minute rice.

Another great option if you know in advance you are going to have a crazy week and cooking/meal prep is just not going to happen is Fed Up. I love their meals on my crazy days where I can still eat healthy and not have to hit up the drive thru.

Evening Snack (at around 6 and 8) :

If you haven’t noticed, snacks are key for me and I am eating a lot! My go to evening snack for 6 ish is usually one of the protein muffins or cookies from Fed Up.

At around 8 my new favorite go to snack/meal is Magic Spoon Cereal. I think it is the best (get the fruity) and again a great option that is packed with protein! It is sweet enough to curb my sweet tooth but isn’t packed with it.

I think that sums up my food diary for a day. As you can see it isn’t anything life altering or crazy. Just pretty simple. My biggest thing I have learned that works for me is to eat every 2-3 hours. That way I am never totally starving so I over eat, but I am not stuffing myself completely full either. Doing smaller more frequent meals has worked best for me! 3 Tips For A More Productive Week

Anyone else feel like life is in a constant busy stage of go go go? My to do lists seem to be multiplying, even when I’m crossing things off!! I’ve started to notice that certain habits I’ve gotten into at the beginning of the week, make a big difference when it comes to my productivity. So today I thought I’d share 3 of those simple tips for you to try too!

: PRIORITIZE YOUR TO DO LIST

The first thing I do to help simplify and set up my week for success is a brain dump of my to do list. I take my work calendar, the kids school + extra curricular calendar, and everything in between, and get them all in one central place by priority. Starting my week off by simplifying and organizing carpools, work hours and appointments helps me feel much more productive. Doing this helps me to accomplish so much more and feel like I’m spending my time wisely.

: PLAN YOUR MEALS

Next up in setting up my week for success is always meal planning. I’m not talking full on meal prep, because I don’t like to hold myself accountable for too much. But meal planning has made such a difference. This means taking stock of my pantry/fridge, and making a list of what needs restocking.

: ORDER YOUR GROCERIES

Last but definitely not least is ordering my groceries from Walmart’s Online Pickup & Delivery. If you haven’t used this service before, this needs to be at the top of your to do list this week!! I have used it for a couple of years now, and I can honestly say it is my favorite mom hack. As a busy mom, it is the most convenient time saver.

You can order straight from the website or on the app from your phone. I prefer the app because it is so efficient and convenient. I love having the app on my phone. When I run out of something while making dinner or think of something while I’m out running errands, I can quickly pull it up and add the item to my cart before I forget!

Once you have the app downloaded and you’ve created a profile with your closest Walmart selected, you just add the items to your cart, as if you were virtually shopping the store. You can shop for groceries or add fashion items, school supplies, toys, and more to your order. As long as your order reaches the $35 minimum, there is no added charge for pickup! (small fee for the delivery option)

Being able to add items to my cart, order, and know that I can do a quick pick up after dropping the kids off at school or schedule for delivery is my favorite way to simplify my week and set it up to be more productive.

I know these are the simplest tips to being more productive. But for me they have been SUCH a game changer to how I start my week. Figuring out little things we can change that make big impacts on our time and efficiency are what its all about in this parenting game! How to Organize Your Fridge Like a Pro

One of the most commonly used storage spaces in our homes can tend to be overlooked when it comes to organization and making things look neat and clean. Any guesses?! It is the refrigerator! It is constantly being opened and looked through. The stock inside is constantly changing. So why aren’t we making sure that the organizational systems inside not only work functionally but also look beautiful? It’s totally doable and you’ll love the results, so today I’m going to give you a few tips on just how to do that.

: GET RID OF PACKAGING

This tip is going to make the biggest difference when it comes to how your fridge looks. If you’re going for that “WOW!”, Lifestyles of The Rich and Famous sort of fridge, you’ve got to get rid of ugly packaging. I really love to use a reusable clear egg carton and ceramic or reusable berry baskets for fruits and veggies (this is also helpful because we can wash our fruits and veggies in them and store them beautifully. Anything that must stay in its packaging, I contain in a labeled plastic fridge bin. Which leads me to my next tip…

: USE BINS FOR BULK

What are you or your kids frequently grabbing out of the fridge? If you’re always grabbing sandwich ingredients like sliced cheese, lettuce, mayo, pickles, and mustard, consider making a sandwich basket so that it’s all in one place and easy to grab. Another great option for concealing things that don’t look clean and uniform is to make a condiment caddy that has a handle so you can easily take it in and out when necessary.

: DIVIDE AND CONQUER

Did you know that you can use expandable drawer dividers in fridge drawers as well as regular drawers? This is seriously a game changer for fridge organization because drawer space can tend to be pretty minimal. Now you can separate one drawer into two or three compartments and organize and separate items according to what you like to keep on hand.

: LINE UP YOUR LABELS

Lastly, if you keep multiples of cans, jars, or cartons, make sure they’re in a line with the first to be used at the front and that all labels and handles are facing the same direction. Water bottles look so much better when they’re taken out of their packaging and placed in rows, all facing the same direction or in something like this to contain them. It makes a big difference and is a perfect chore for little ones.
