Our Favorite Guacamole

Do you have a snack or meal that you feel like you could eat over and over and never get sick of it? For me one of those is definitely chips + guacamole!! Paying for extra guacamole is always worth it in my book!! But it is even better homemade, and this recipe is full proof! Like most of my favorite family recipes, this one comes from my Aunt Tina! I’m telling you, everything I have tried from her kitchen is incredible! This is one of those recipes that once you share it, you will be asked to bring to every party and get together!

: OUR FAVORITE GUACAMOLE

– INGREDIENTS –

Avocados x 2

2 T Red Onion Grated

2 T Diced Tomato

1 T Chopped Jalapeño

1 T Cilantro

1/2 Key Lime

1 tsp coarse sea salt

Basket of Fresh Chips

– INSTRUCTIONS –

Dice Avocado in the husk and remove with a spoon into a medium bowl or molcajete. Juice the limes over the avocado. Add all remaining ingredients and ix with spoon until proper consistency. Serve with your favorite chips!

I love a great dress that transitions well from summer to fall and this one is it! I love the pattern is still so neutral. The square neck isn’t too wide so you aren’t hanging out anywhere and it is a great length! Under $30!

This tanner is hands down my favorite tanner I have found. It gives such a good, dark, quality color while still looking very natural. No orange oompa loompa look here! It is also a mousse rather than a lotion, so it goes on relatively easy, isn’t streaky, and you can easily see where you are applying it as you go. My trick to getting the best tan out of it is to treat it like an overnight tan still. Put it on at night and sleep on it before rinsing. That gives it more time to develop and get you the best color!

Wanna know the best trick to wearing bodysuits? Don’t button them!! Nobody will know! You still get the clean tucked look of a cute bodysuit, but keep your comfort level of not having a wedgie. Haha you’ll thank me later!

3 Ingredient Pumpkin Chocolate Chip Cookies

Happy Fall!!! If there is one food that screams fall to me it is PUMPKIN SPICE. I swear you can find it in just about any variety. And while some are a little to out there for me, these Pumpkin Chocolate Chip Cookies are an absolute favorite!! With just 3 ingredients, they are quick and easy to whip up with your kids and I promise they are so delicious you will have them on repeat all season long!

:: PUMPKIN CHOCOLATE CHIP COOKIES

– INGREDIENTS –

1 30 oz can pumpkin

2 Spice Cake Mix (just the mix not the eggs, oil, and water)

1 bag Chocolate Chips of your choice

– INSTRUCTIONS –

Preheat oven to 350 degrees.

Mix all 3 ingredients until well combined.

Scoop into balls (around golf ball ish size) onto cookie sheet.
**Note these don’t rise a lot so the size of your ball will be about the same as your cookies.

Bake for 13-15 minutes and Enjoy!!

** Want an excuse to eat these for breakfast?! Make them into muffins instead!! Mix up the same 3 ingredients and scoop into a muffin tin. (fill about 3/4 full) Bake for 22-25 minutes at 350 and enjoy!

Four Ways to Style Black Jeans for Fall

Fall is in the air and I am not even mad about it! We have been having the dreamiest weather in Utah, so I am going to enjoy and try not to think about the never ending winter ahead of us! With the cooler temps in the air, that means putting away some of the summer staples and getting out my go to options for Fall, and one of those is ALWAYS black jeans! Let’s be honest, they are a staple for me year round, but I especially love them for Fall! So today I thought it would be fun to team up with Walmart and share some of my favorite ways to style black jeans all with cute + affordable Walmart finds!

BLACK JEANS + BLACK TOP

One of my all time favorite looks is black on black. It is sharp, timeless, classic. It can be dressed up or down and is so flattering on every body type. First up let’s talk black jeans. Black is always your friend when it comes to wardrobe staples. It is so timeless and classic. And on top of that it looks good on everyone! A good pair of black jeans is a must for me because they go with so much and round out your wardrobe. The skinny fit is slimming on every body type and such a great staple. This pair is only $27! I love that you can keep it simple or add a pop of color in your accessories like I did with the hat here or the coat above.

If you know me, you know my love for graphic tees runs deep! I feel like they are often times looked over and they are SUCH a great staple to have in your closet! You can pair them with denim, but to help dress them up a little I love to pair them with black jeans and booties or even a skirt (which is my favorite way)! The crisp clean slate of the black jeans gives them that edge and more polished look than regular denim for a fun fall outfit!

This button up denim shirt has a cute fitted look with the rolled up sleeves and pops so well with the black denim base of the jeans. Fall Style: 1 Dress 3 Ways

Fall is in the air, and as much as I am a Summer girl through and through, Fall is a close second! One of my favorite things about Fall is the fashion! Give me all the cardigans, boots, sweaters, and leather jackets!! That being said, Fall fashion in Utah can be a little tricky because the weather tends to be a little hormonal. We have colder mornings and evenings, but the afternoons can still feel like summer, so layers are key! I love to take summer pieces I have been loving and transition them to fall with a few added pieces! I thought it would be fun to show you a few examples of how I do this, so today I am teaming up with JCPenney to style a fun dress 3 ways!

: FLIP FLOPS + A BASEBALL HAT

The first look is what I refer to as the momiform. It is a relaxed casual look perfect for running errands, doing carpool, and keeping up with busy schedules! I paired the dress with some flip flops + a baseball hat to dress it down and keep it casual.

The next look is another great on the go look but adds a layer for the cooler days. We swapped out the flip flops in the last look for a pair of sneakers and layered the dress with a casual denim jacket. It still gives you a casual fall look, but the accessories and switching the shoes give it a whole different look.

: DATE NIGHT

The third look screams date night to me. You have the same dress as the first two looks, but we have elevated it with a sleek leather jacket and combat boots. If you invest in one staple for your fall wardrobe, make it a leather jacket! It is so versatile with both basic tops + dresses and is a quick way to dress up a look.

How to Add Seasonal Decor and Stay in Your Aesthetic

As much I always miss summer, Fall is one of my favorites as well! It just screams cozy to me! And it is always the beginning of so many fun holiday traditions to finish up the rest of the year. With the seasons changing and holidays, one thing that we tend to add into our home is seasonal decor. This can be anything from the window clings our kids know and love, to pumpkins covering every surface, and can easily get out of hand! So today I thought it would be fun to team up with Walmart and share some of my biggest tips to adding seasonal decor while staying in you aesthetic.

: FOCUS ON ACCESSORIES

My biggest tip is to focus on the accessories in your home. For me personally, when it comes to seasonal decor, less is more. By that I mean instead of adding a lot of clutter, I take the accessories already featured in my home, like pillows, blankets, and baskets, and swap them out for a more seasonal touch. This can mean swapping out your throw pillows for more muted tones, or just adding some more textures. These simple changes can give you a more seasonal feel without completely changing your overall style.

: SWITCH UP YOUR GREENERY

If you know me, you know I love plants and all things greenery. I have pops of both real and faux plants throughout my house because I love that it can be a pop of color and texture to a more neutral aesthetic. t instantly brings a pop of color and texture to the space. Having greenery throughout your home is a great way to switch up your seasonal decor as well. I love real flowers in the Spring + Summer, faux branches and leaves like these in the fall, and a garland in the winter months.

Family Favorite Recipe: Lemon Garlic Chicken

My mouth is watering just thinking about this yummy lemon garlic chicken marinade!! Like a lot of my favorite family recipes, this one came from my Aunt Tina. She is an amazing cook and always has the yummiest recipes to share!! This Lemon Garlic Chicken is one of our staple go to’s that we will prep a bunch of at the beginning of the week and eat for leftovers or lunches throughout the week. It pairs great with rice for a quick + easy meal idea! Hope you love it as much as we do!

: LEMON GARLIC CHICKEN

– INGREDIENTS –

1/2 c olive oil

4 tsp dijon mustard

6 large garlic cloves, minced

1 1/2 tsp salt

1/2 tsp black pepper

zest and juice of 2 lemons

4 boneless skinless chicken breasts

– INSTRUCTIONS –

Whisk together the olive oil, dijon mustard, garlic, salt + pepper, and lemon. Pour over your chicken and refrigerate for 2-12 hours.

Remove chicken from marinade and grill until done.

Oh Amazon. What did we ever do without your convenient 2 day shipping? You have really brought retail therapy to a whole new level!! And let’s be honest, probably made me way more resistant to ever go to the actual store again unless I HAVE to! I love seeing what other people find and love from Amazon so today I’m sharing a roundup of all of our best Amazon purchases of July + August. First up, let’s talk the random finds. These are the things people usually aren’t sharing about all over Instagram because they are just household every day things. But some of these were major scores so I had to share!

: Pajama Set

If you follow along over on Instagram, you may have seen this set x 10. My residency sisters and I threw a surprise birthday party for one of the girls and of course matching is a must! We found these darling super comfy matching sets that we all loved!

: Water Flosser

This water flosser is another one that actually did make an appearance over on Instagram because Joe is in love! Haha! No, but really he is obsessed and shocked by the results. As gross as it sounds, your mind will be blown at how much it gets out of your teeth even after brushing!

Nothing overly exciting about these makeup remover cloths, but love them. They work great + are super affordable compared to most you will find!

I think this one tops my list of favorite fashion find lately. It is the perfect dress for summer and fall. I love the fun pattern mixed with the darker color to keep it more subtle. Looks super cute with sandals but would pair great with booties for Fall as well. And the sleeve detail is so fun.

While I will miss it, I definitely crave the routine and schedule that comes with Fall so I can’t totally complain. Family Favorite Recipe: Chicken Roll Ups + 50 Dinner Ideas!

Is it just me or does Summer basically equal your kids surviving on grilled cheese and quesadillas for dinner? Haha! We are constantly go go go that actual good homemade dinners tend to go on the back burner on my scale of importance. But will school back in action and us getting back into our routines, I’m ready to get our at home family dinners going again too! Which means I needed some ideas and you guys did not fail me!!! Below you will find a list of ALL the amazing dinner ideas you gave me PLUS a recipe for our families favorite chicken roll ups!

: CHICKEN ROLL UPS

Do you have a meal that totally screams comfort food to you? For me, one of those is these chicken roll ups! I grew up eating them regularly, and they are now one of the most requested meals from my own kids too! Not only are they delicious, but they are super quick + easy to make!! So let’s get to the recipe!

– INGREDIENTS –

6-8 chicken breasts (rotisserie chicken works great too if you are short on time)

chicken broth

1-2 8 oz packages cream cheese

crescent rolls

chicken gravy mix

As you an see by these ingredients, this is one of those recipes I just kind of eyeball. You don’t want your chicken mixture to be too dry, but you also don’t want to just be eating a spoonful of cream cheese…so do what looks right on the cream cheese vs chicken ratio. 🙂

– INSTRUCTIONS –

Cook chicken in crock pot with chicken broth. When it is done, shred the chicken and mix with cream cheese. Unroll crescent roll dough. Scoop a spoonful of chicken mixture onto each of the roll triangles and roll them up into a ball, making sure chicken mixture is sealed inside.

Bake at 350 for 15-20 until the tops are a golden brown.

While roll ups are baking, mix up your gravy. I just use the powdered gravy mix you add to water.

When rollups are done, pour some of the chicken gravy on top and enjoy!

The Truth About Organizing with Containers

My organization course, 30 Days To An Organized Home, launches this week and one of the biggest questions I get is “But what do I do about containers?” I have been asked questions from which ones I use to if you actually need them in order to achieve an organized home, and if it is even possible on a budget. Just like weights are a tool for strength training, so are containers for organizing. Can you do it without them? Yes, but it’s much more difficult to achieve and maintain without them. This is like 10% true. Containers can certainly add up if you have a lot of stuff and you don’t currently have any. The more things you have, the more you’ll need. But the 90% truth of the matter is, most containers are built to last. You shouldn’t need to replace them often if you buy well made items. And they can be purchased at so many different stores. I’ve even found amazing options for small items at the dollar store and in the Target Dollar section. Trust me, they can be as affordable as you need them to be. You just have to look! The pink and gray baskets pictured above are only $6 and those below are under $3! Both cute and functional!

Myth 2 : They Won’t Make a Difference

Okay, this one is super, super false. If you’ve tried to organize a kid’s playroom or a pantry without a bin, basket, or any sort of container, you know how well that goes. It may look okay for a day or two, but the organization never lasts long. The purpose of containers is to give everything a place. When everything has a place, you and anyone in your home can easily find it, put it away, and reorganize as necessary. Containers are, in my opinion, necessary for long-lasting organization.

Myth 3: I Need All Of The Same Containers

False! As you’ll see inside the course and within our own home, you can absolutely use different types of containers, even in the same space. In fact, I recommend it! For example, look at the image above in my pantry. There are some items I want to be able to see easily. For those, I opt for acrylic ones or wire baskets. There are also many things I’d like to keep hidden like medicines, mismatched chips/back stock, or treats I’m hiding from my kids! For those I opt for woven bins or a colored plastic that isn’t through. The same goes for closets and bathrooms. Use the variety of containers both in size and materials to match what you are organizing. It’s absolutely okay to mix and match for your style, space, and budget.

Hunter’s Room

Hunter has been begging for her own room for a couple of years now. I wasn’t against it, but I was trying to decide if I was ready to move Harper downstairs. Spoiler- I wasn’t! While she waited for me to make up my mind, she kind of slowly moved herself into our guest room instead! Ha! It actually worked out well. But it needed a few changes to make it feel more like a teen space and match her style. Over the last couple of months we have taken the time to do just that and love how it turned out!! Sharing all the fun details with you today!

The biggest change we made to the space was the wallpaper. Prior to her taking over the space, it was a very neutral guest room. She didn’t want anything too crazy, just a pop of pink. We didn’t find anything we both loved, so we reached out to Indigo Design and were able to design this custom wallpaper together! When it comes to bedding you know we love all things Cariloha! Their sheets, pillows, and duvets are dreamy so that was for sure one of Hunter’s biggest requests! I love how it keeps it simple but adds a little bit of color for her.

Everything else in the space we kept as it was originally in the guest room, with a few more small pops of pink like this pillow and vase. I love that we were able to transform the space, but not have to have a big budget. We hope you love it too!
