We spent the past week in Mexico with family and had so much fun! I will share all the details of where we stayed and what we did in a blog post on Wednesday. BUT, for this blog post I wanted to hop on here and share some things we packed for our trip because I always get questions about what swimsuits I brought, where the kids’ outfits are from, etc.
WHAT I PACKED FOR MEXICO
When we travel with all the kids, we don’t check any bags. Each kid gets their own carry-on and that’s it! We pack the least amount of things. We pack very versatile clothing items. For myself, I try to pack clothing that I can wear to dinner but also wear as a coverup, swimsuits I can wear a few times, a good pair of flip-flops, etc.
I honestly didn’t take many pics. I really just enjoyed my time with my people and only pulled my camera out 2-3 days to snap pics for memories. But here is everything I packed!
When it comes to the holiday season, I am obsessed with creating and continuing on little traditions with my people. Something about having something to look forward that leaves that memory with them means so much to me. When we first started our little family and it was just Joe, Hunter, and I, I wanted to start something to help me feel a little less homesick. I’m sure you’ve all heard of the very common Christmas tradition of getting pajamas on Christmas Eve. I love pajamas and thought it was the sweetest tradition but we put my own spin on it and we have loved it alllll these years later!
While I loved the idea behind the tradition, I didn’t love the timing. I am a sucker for Christmas pajamas! So you can see my problem with the timing. I wanted to be able to wear cute pajamas all season long! So we had the idea to open our pajamas on Thanksgiving night instead! It has become one of our very favorite traditions for 13 years now!
Here’s what I ordered in October from Amazon! It’s always a random round-up of things I order but be sure to check out Hunter’s new favorite highlighting powder, what we’re using to help with Boogie’s weight, my favorite drinking glasses, and more!
Hunter ordered this blue dress last minute for her soccer formal, and we loved how it worked out! She ordered size Medium and it fit great! It’s under $40 and comes in a ton of colors. She also ordered these heels to go with the dress and loves them!
: THE HEROES OF OLYMPUS BOOK
I ordered this Heroes of Olympus book for Hudson! He loves all the books by Rick Riordan, so I’ll have to let you know how he likes this one.
: PILL ORGANIZERS
I needed some new pill organizers and loved the look of these! It has the days of the week on each of the sections. Only $7 too!
: LOOP QUIET EAR PLUGS
In our rental, you can hear absolutely every little noise. So I ordered these loop ear plugs to use while I sleep! I also ordered these green silicone ones just to try out what I like best. Testing out all the ear plugs because I need to get better sleep!
: KEYLESS ENTRY DOOR LOCK
If you’ve followed me for a while, you know that the master bedroom in our old house had a lock on the door to keep Hunter out from stealing my clothes and my makeup. Our rental doesn’t have a lock on the master bedroom door, so we ordered this keyless entry door lock, it has a keypad and it’s worked great. It literally saves mine and Hunter’s relationship because I know my things are safe and she can’t come take anything she wants, haha!
: HIGHLIGHTING POWDER + BRUSH
Hunter is wanting to start dabbling with makeup, and of course I don’t want to spend a fortune on her first makeup products, so we got her this $6 Wet n’ Wild highlighter and this makeup brush, and so far she’s been loving it!
: DRINKING GLASSES WITH STRAWS
My friend Lisa shared about these glass drinking cups and so I decided to try them! I use them to mix and drink my greens in the morning. Comes in a pack of 4 for under $20!
: CUBE TIMER
I found this cube timer from my friend Merrick! It’s seriously so awesome. You just flip in on its side to the number of minutes that you want. It’s been great for chores and reading for the kids!
: CALORIE ENHANCER
We ordered these calorie protein enhancers for Boogie. A lot of people always ask about his weight and so this is what we’ve been trying! They aren’t his favorite, but they are incredible if you can get your kid to take one or two of them a day.
Today we’re sharing one of our most requested gift guides- parents and in-laws! Something about our parents already having all the things makes it a little trickier to get creative, so we’ve rounded up all our best ideas! Check them out below!

Who doesn’t love a quick and easy cinnamon roll recipe? This recipe is a family favorite, my kids absolutely love it! Plus, the best part is I can get all the ingredients from Walmart for such a great price so it doesn’t break the bank! I’ve gone to other grocery stores, when I just needed a few quick items, and it’s almost double the price for my groceries. Plus, they deliver right to my door with Walmart+ so you can’t beat that! For this recipe, you only need 5 ingredients!! It’s super easy and a recipe that the whole family will love!
CINNAMON ROLL RECIPE
: INGREDIENTS
12 Pillsbury cinnamon rolls
One pint of heavy whipping cream
1/2 cup of melted butter
1/4 cup of brown sugar
1/2 tablespoon of cinnamon
: INSTRUCTIONS
First place the cinnamon rolls in a pan (I like using a circular baking pan). Pour the heavy whipping cream over the cinnamon rolls. Then mix together the butter, brown sugar, and cinnamon. Then pour this mixture over the cinnamon rolls, cover with tin foil, and bake at 350 degrees for about 25 minutes! Easy enough, right?
This recipe would be perfect for the holidays! When it comes to serving big groups of people, Walmart is my go-to place where I feel like I can stay on budget, without trading down value. Also Walmart was so kind to give us a discount! New customers can use promo code TRIPLE10to save $10 off their first three pickup or delivery orders. $50 min. + restrictions & fees apply.
If you’ve been keeping up with my Instagram stories, then you know that the past 3 months of our life have been chaotic. But, it has been so humbling and eye-opening. In years to come, I truly feel that I will look back at this stage of life and will see how much growth and development I gained from these experiences. This post will share a lot of details about how we decided to sell our lot, and how I’m feeling about everything. Here is our last life update if you missed it!
OUR LIFE UPDATE
We sold the house! The buyers didn’t buy the house furnished, so we put all our furniture for sale on Instagram and you guys snatched it all up! We are so grateful for each and every one of you. It was so great to meet and squeeze you in person! We are feeling finally settled in the rental. We put our couch and dining table from the last house into the rental, and it has really made it feel like home.
The kids are loving the rental. Hunter has told me a million times how much she loves the rental because it’s just so simplified, and that’s what I’ve been holding on to. The rental has simplified our lives. It has way less space, so we have way less things in there. It’s made me really focus on the things that matter and it’s made Joe and I really think about our next house plans (do we really need that much space?), whenever that may be.
I finally took advantage of homeschool and took Hayden and Harper to Idaho to stay with my sister and help with her little boys! Joe told me to get away and get my mind off things and I knew my sister was missing home, so I just wanted to spend time with her and let the girls see their cousins. We didn’t do anything special, we just talked and loved on her boys and it was the perfect medicine for both of us.
Hunter went to her first high school dance! I can’t believe she’s this old. I vividly remember my first dance as a sophomore in high school, my date was Joe’s best friend! Haha! Here is the link to Hunter’s dress, I’ve had lots of questions about it. Hunter has also been doing great this season for soccer! I love love love watching her play and do what she loves.
Update on our lot: We found 6 acres that we absolutely love. We’re currently going back and forth with the city to see if a road has to go through all 6 acres. We were really excited about this land because it was flat farmland and everything that we were looking for. But we’re still just waiting it out. We were supposed to break ground twice on our lot on the hill… we actually had trucks up there twice to break ground, and that’s when the first house buyers fell through due to finances. So we put it on hold, and that’s when we decided to just sell the lot and no longer build. Honestly, deciding to sell our lot and not build anymore was one of the easiest decisions for us.
Both Joe and I went up to the lot on a Sunday and it just didn’t feel right, but we were trying to push through it. We’ve spent the past 2 years preparing, investing, and designing it, so we were like “why would we back out now”? Three days later, I broke down to Joe and told him that it didn’t feel right, and he felt the exact same way. And to us, that was the Holy Spirit who first told us individually and then we came together and decided that we needed to follow that inspiration. It really was the easiest decision, and we are so happy with it. The biggest thing we’ve learned these past few months is to trust our gut and follow the guidance of the Holy Spirit. We are continually seeing God open different doors for us, and we’re just along for the ride to see what God has in store for us!
. . .
I know my life has been chaotic and fast-paced, so I love sharing these life updates for you guys and just writing down my feelings. Thank you for your continued love and support! Seriously so grateful for all of you.
