I don’t know about you guys, but this summer has flown by so so fast. I swear we were just getting excited for our first summer in our new home, and now we are in August!! Back to School season is upon us, which means it’s time for Back to School Shopping!! I know as parents this can be something we often dread. Kids aren’t ready for the summer fun to end, and forcing them to go shopping for clothes does not help!! Over the years I’ve figured out a few hacks to simplify our Back to School Shopping. It helps us tackle it quickly + easily with limited complaining from anyone! So I thought today I’d share them with you!
… LET THEM PICK THEIR SHOES …
First on our list is always shoes! My little people are growing so fast. Usually by the start of a new year they are in need of a bigger size. My biggest tip to cut your “what to wear in the morning” drama in half, it is this. Let your people choose their shoes when you go shopping. It is a small sacrifice for you and a huge win in their eyes. If you’re anything like me, it is hard to let them have full reign over the whole outfit, so this way they don’t complain about your input as much because they had a say in something.
One of our absolute FAVORITE places for Back to School shoes for the whole family is Rack Room Shoes. We have been shopping at Rack Room for Back to School shoes for 4 years now and the kids look forward to it so much! Every year around this time they have an awesome BOGO 50% off sale, which cuts the amount we are spending by a ton! The shoes on sale are usually brand new styles, not the last season stuff they are trying to sell out. Buying shoes for 5 little people is no joke, and knowing that we can get that great price on amazing quality shoes that are the fun styles they want is a game changer.

We also love that it is a way to give back to the community. This year they have two fun options. First is the Real Teacher of the Year Contest. It is an online contest to find the best teacher of the year. While you are doing your Back to School Shopping, you can nominate a favorite teacher. They also brought back one of my favorite fundraisers called Shoes that Fit. They provide shoes to children in need in your local area. So wherever you are buying from, you are benefiting kids in your area. I love that!
… COORDINATE YOUR OUTFIT COLORS …
Anyone out there love to have your kids match as much as I do?! I love it so much. My people are getting to the ages where they don’t love the total matchy matchy, but we still try to coordinate. Besides the cuteness factor, and how excited the littler ones get to match their big siblings, it is such a time saver! When it comes to doing laundry, you are doing half as many loads because all of their outfits are going to be coordinating colors that can be washed together. This little hack of mine has probably saved me hours of extra laundry over the years! Yes please!

… PICK YOUR OUTFITS THE NIGHT BEFORE …
I’m sure you have all experienced the drama that is deciding what to wear to school. One of my biggest tips to start on day one and continue the whole school year is laying out your outfits the night before. It not only cuts back on so much time in the morning, but it saves any disputes or back and forth on a certain shirt for when you actually have time to talk about it and aren’t trying to do breakfast and get people out the door.
As much as I dread Summer being over, we are excited to get a little more structure in our schedule again and meet some new friends! So now I wanna know, what are you best back to school shopping tips + tricks?!
